How to Sign In to AIM on the Web

Did you know AIM, AOL's instant messaging client, is also a popular web-based IM client? AIM offers an IM experience similar to the app client without the hassle of a download and installation.

Originally known as AIM Express, it began as a "lite" version of the application. As web technology and web-based apps have expanded, the experience on the web has become as robust as the app while also becoming very versatile and easy to use.

AIM is perfect at school, in the workplace or on any public computer where IT and network restrictions might block you from previously attempting to download AIM.

To begin launching AIM, visit the AIM website and select the “Launch Now” button under the AIM Express promotional field.

  • The menu available under your name at the top left lets you select your visibility status (e.g., Available, Away and Invisible), options to change your name and picture, plus help and FAQs.
