How to Post a 3D Photo on Facebook

Add a cool photo effect with a supported iPhone or Android device

If your Facebook page is looking a little dull, liven it up by adding a 3D photo. Facebook has a feature that transforms certain pictures into photos with a 3D effect. Here's everything you need to know about creating and posting a 3D image to Facebook with your iPhone or Android device.

To post 3D photos to Facebook with an iPhone, your model must have a dual-lens camera and Portrait Mode. Supported devices include the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max; iPhone X, XS, and XS Max; iPhone 8 Plus; and iPhone 7 Plus.

To post 3D photos to Facebook with an Android, your device needs Portrait Mode, Lens Blur, or Live Focus Mode. Supported devices include the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9; Samsung Galaxy S9+, S10, S10E, S10+, and S10 5G; Samsung Galaxy Fold; Google Pixel and Pixel XL; Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL; and Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.

3D Photo Posting Notes

For the best perspective-shifting photos, take a look at how your photo subject contrasts with the background. Colors shouldn't blend too much and a plain background works best.

There are a few restrictions when sharing 3D photos. When posting a 3D photo to Facebook, note that 3D photos can't be edited, and Facebook may not be able to convert edited photos to 3D. You can only share one 3D photo at a time, and you can't add 3D photos to an album.
