So you've had a Spotify account for a while, but it's time for a security change. Here's how to change your Spotify password when you can still access your account, and when you've forgotten your current password and need to reset it.

The instructions in this article apply to Windows and Mac computers, as well as iOS and Android devices.

How to Change Spotify Password When You Can Remember It

To change your Spotify Password, you have to log into your account via Spotify's website. This applies to those who use the streaming app on either Windows or macOS, and to those who use it on iOS or Android.

  3. Log in by entering your username/email address and current password. Alternatively, you can log in with Facebook, if that's how you usually access your account.

  4. Scroll down and select Change Password.

  5. Enter your current password into the Current password field.

  6. Enter your new password into the New password field, then once more into the Repeat new password field.

  7. Select SET NEW PASSWORD.

  8. Once the password has been changed you should see a "Password updated" message.

How to Reset Spotify Password When You've Forgotten It

Changing your Spotify password is easy enough when you remember your current password, but the process can be complicated in cases where you've forgotten it since you need to enter your current password in order to replace it with a new one.

Resetting password

Fear not, since the route out of this little quandary isn't particularly tortured. It simply involves resetting your password, which demands you do the following:

  1. Go to www.spotify.com.

Alternatively, go directly to Spotify's password reset page using the following link: http://www.spotify.com/password-reset. Skip ahead to Step 4.

  2. Select Log In in the top-right corner of the homepage

  3. Select Forgot your username or password?

  4. Enter the email address or username associated with your account.

  5. Select SEND.

  6. Log into the email account to which the "Reset your password" email has been sent.

  7. Open this email and select Reset Password.

  8. Enter a new password into the New password field, then again into the Repeat new password field.

  9. Select the I'm not a robot Captcha box.

  10. Select SEND.

  11. After creating your new password, you should store it someplace safe and easily accessible. You could use a password manager, which takes the hassle out of recalling dozens or hundreds of random symbols.
