Fortnite is one of the most popular online games available today and many fans rejoiced when it was first made compatible with Android. However, its been a long road for Android users to get more seamless access to the battle game.

Read on to learn how to install Fortnite on Android device without having to go to an app store.

The History of Fortnite on Android

Originally, the Fortnite Android beta was compatible only with the latest Samsung devices. Later, the app was accessible only to those who had a compatible code. Epic Games has since broadened its compatibility for the Fornite Android beta to a wide range of smartphone brands and has also shared the device specifications required for installation.

Though the Fortnite Android beta is now available for many popular Android smartphones, users still won't be able to find the app on the Google Play Store. This is because Epic Games has opted to self publish its app to have more control over its contents.

How to Install the Fortnite Android Beta

This method works for all compatible Android smartphones by downloading the official Fortnite beta launcher by Epic Games.

  1. Access on the mobile browser on your smartphone and tap Download.

Alternatively, go to the launcher download page on your desktop browser and scan the available QR code.

  2. You'll be prompted to allow certain security permissions before being allowed to install the Fortnite launcher and game.

You can (and should) go back to your settings to revoke these access permissions, as they can cause a security risk to your smartphone.

  3. Tap Install from the Fornite Installer to download the official .apk file that will allow you to install the game.

  4. Tap Continue when prompted to allow the app to access your device storage.

How to Revoke Android Security Permissions

Once the Fornite Android beta has begun its final set up, you can proceed to revoke the permissions you granted to allow the Fortnite launcher to install. Epic Games recommends users keep the Fortnite Installer on their smartphone in order to have access to updates and patches.

To do this, tap Settings > Apps & notifications > Special access > Install unknown apps. From there, you should see the Fortnite Installer is set to "allowed." Tap the app and toggle Allow from this source to off.
