OKCupid Matches To begin chatting with your online matches, follow these steps: Log in to your OkCupid account. Select DoubleTake in the menu. You are presented with a selection of matches you can browse through. You can change and refine the search criteria by selecting Search > Filters (sliders icons) icon and selecting your preferences. Select Sliders (filters) to refine your search. Once you have your criteria set, select Search. Refine Your Search Criteria Your match preferences generate a search algorithm that sorts the best possible matches from OkCupid's database of users. You have several categories you can modify, and each of these has more specific preferences beneath them. LooksBackgroundAvailabilityVicesQuestionsMore To make a change, select the preference category you want to refine. Preferences include Height, smoking and drinking activities, Religion, and languages, among others. The More category is a catchall for preferences such as Education, Kids, and Pets, as well as a search field that you can use to enter specific keywords you're looking for in other users' profiles. The Questions category lets you enter any question from OkCupid's database to narrow your results based on other people's responses to those same questions. However, this category is limited to users who purchase an OKCupid A-List membership. Looks are set in a variety of ways. Height preference, for example, is set as a range using drop-downs for a minimum and maximum. Other preferences are checkboxes or sliders. When you're done, click the Search button. Search Results Your search results are displayed in a grid below your search preferences. You will see a snapshot of each person, such as their username, age, and location, as well as a profile picture. If a user is logged in, a green Online icon appears at the bottom of their profile picture. You will also see OKCupid's assessment of how well your personality matches the person. It will have has a percentage next to them. The higher the percentage, the stronger the person rates in that assessment. Hovering over a profile displays some traits they have that you looked for, a thumbnail image, their location, age, and percentage assessment. To view a match in more detail, select a profile. Here, you will see more detail of their profile and how you match up. If you're interested in someone, select Like.
