Epic Games has had some security issues in the past, and taking a bit of precaution would be for the best. Fortnite is a free game, but has in-game transactions, so when you enable 2FA for Fortnite you're protecting your data as well as those in-game puchases. What is Two Factor Authentication? Two factor authentication is a way to confirm your identity when logging into a website, app, software, etc. It uses your password and a second tool like a phone number where you can receive a one-time code. You then present that code as proof you're who you say you are when logging in. How to Enable 2FA in Fortnite To enable two factor authentication for Fortnite, it has to be done through the Epic Games website. Log into your account on the Epic Games website. Select your username in the top right corner, then select Account. On the left side of the window, select Password & Security. Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication. You have two options to choose from to enable 2FA for Fortnite and Epic Games: Enable Authenticator App or Enable Email Authentication. To use the authenticator app, you need to have the app installed on your phone. If you select Enable Authenticator App, a pop up will appear with a QR code for you to scan with the app, which then provides a code to use as your 2FA. If you prefer to use email as the source for the 2FA code, then select Enable Email Authentication and a code will be sent to the email address connected to your Epic Games account.
