Follow the same principle with your PowerPoint presentations by embedding a YouTube video in one or more slides. Use YouTube videos to demonstrate something you wouldn’t be able to otherwise, break up your talk, or add more depth using another person’s point of view. Instructions in this article apply to PowerPoint 2019, 2016, 2013; PowerPoint for Office 365, PowerPoint Online, and PowerPoint for Mac. How to Embed a YouTube Video in PowerPoint on Windows Using the Embed Code If you find an awesome YouTube video that would work perfectly in your presentation, you can embed it and play it during your slideshow. Embedded videos do not play in PowerPoint 2010. If possible, upgrade to a newer version of PowerPoint. Or, if you’re comfortable installing software on your computer, install the LiveWeb add-in. Go to YouTube and navigate to the video you want to include in your PowerPoint presentation. You can only embed one video at a time. Under the video screen, select Share. In the dialog box, under Share a link, select Embed. In the Embed Video dialog box, select the iframe code, then right-click and select Copy. Open PowerPoint and navigate to the slide where you want to embed the YouTube video. Go to Insert and, in the Media group, select Video > Online Video to open the Insert Video dialog box. In the From a Video Embed Code section, paste the iframe code you copied from YouTube and select the Insert arrow. A video frame appears on your slide. If you don't like the position or size of the object, move the object around and resize it on your slide. To preview the video, right-click, select Preview, and select Play. Remember, your video is online. Connect to the internet to view it. To see the video in your presentation, go to Slide Show and, in the Start Slide Show group, select From Beginning. To play the video during your presentation, be sure you have an internet connection. When the slide appears with the video on it, select Play. How to Embed a YouTube Video in PowerPoint on Windows Using a Link Alternatively, you can start with PowerPoint and use the following process: Navigate to the slide where you want to place the video. Go to Insert and, in the Media group, select Video > Online Video. In the YouTube section, type a video name or description into the search bar and select Search. On the next screen, select the video you want and select Insert. A video frame appears in your slide. Follow steps 9-11 above to preview the video in your slideshow. How to Embed a YouTube Video in PowerPoint for Mac and PowerPoint Online The following instructions apply to PowerPoint for Office 365 for Mac and to PowerPoint Online: You must be an Office 365 subscriber to use this method. On YouTube, navigate to the video you want to use. Highlight the URL in the address bar and press Ctrl+C (copy) on your keyboard. Open PowerPoint and navigate to the slide where you want to place the video. In PowerPoint for Mac, go to Insert and, in the Media group, select Video > Online Movie. In PowerPoint Online, select Insert > Online Video. In the dialog box, press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the URL. Select Insert. A video frame appears on the slide. To preview the video in PowerPoint for Mac, select Play at the top of the frame. In PowerPoint Online, go to View and ,in the Start Slide Show group, select From Current Slide.
