This article explains how to disable Bixby on your Samsung device. It includes information on disabling the swipe across to access the Bixby Home feature and the Bixby voice. This information applies to Samsung Galaxy Note10, Note10+, S10e, S10, S10+, Fold, Note9, S9, S9+, Note9, S8, and S8+.

How to Log In to Samsung Account

Before you can disable Bixby features, log in to your Samsung account.

  1. Select the Bixby button or swipe right on the device screen to access Bixby Home.

  2. Select Next.

  3. Select a language for Bixby Voice.

  4. Select Sign In.

  5. Enter the Samsung account username and password and confirm the login.

If you don't have a Samsung account, create one. The Sign In window includes an option to create an account. Select this option, fill out the required information, and confirm the terms and conditions. You'll receive an email to verify the account set up. Once verified, you can sign in.

How to Disable the Bixby Button

Tired of Bixby popping up when you least expect it? Samsung's virtual personal assistant has many interesting features, but some Samsung smartphone users would prefer the feature to be disabled. After you log in to your Samsung account, here's how to disable Bixby.

  1. Select the Bixby button or swipe right on the device screen to access Bixby Home.

  2. Select the Settings icon at the upper-right corner of the screen.

  3. Toggle the Bixby key option to the Off position.

How to Disable Bixby Home's Swipe Access Feature

Even after the Bixby Home screen is disabled from the Bixby button, you can access it by swiping right on the left side of the screen.

To disable Bixby Home on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Note 9:

  1. Long press any empty space on the device screen.

  2. Swipe left until you see the Bixby Home screen tile.

  3. Toggle Bixby Home to the Off position.

How to Disable Bixby Voice

Disabling Bixby Voice has a few more steps, but is also relatively simple.

To disable Bixby Voice on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Note 9:

  1. Select the three-dot menu icon at the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Toggle the Bixby Voice option to the Off position.

Bixby Features You Don't Have to Disable

With the Bixby button, Bixby Home, and Bixby Voice disabled, the smart assistant feature is almost completely shut down. Some Bixby features, such as Bixby Vision in the camera app, will still work.

If you don't want to use Bixby Vision, skip the set up of this feature and don't select the Bixby Vision option while using the Samsung camera app.
