Instructions apply to the Android and iOS versions of the Facebook mobile app. How to Create a Facebook Avatar Facebook Avatars, like Bitmoji, are cartoon versions of yourself to use on social media. After you create your Avatar, Facebook generates a variety of expressive stickers you can share on Facebook posts, Facebook comments, Messenger messages, Instagram posts, text and email messages, and more. Launch the Facebook app and tap Menu (three lines). It's on the bottom right in the iPhone app and on the top right in the Android app. Tap See More. Tap Avatars. Select the skin tone closest to yours, then tap Next. There are various ways to customize your Avatar. After you select a skin tone, choose a hairstyle. Then choose hair color, face shape, and eye shape. Then an eye color, eye makeup, and body shape. Choose an outfit, and optionally headwear. You can also adjust your complexion, facial lines, eyebrow shape and color, add eyewear, and choose a nose, lips, and facial hair. Tap Done when you're finished. Facebook will generate your Avatar. Share Your Avatar in a Post or as a Profile Pic Once you've accessed Facebook Avatars once, the Avatar option will feature more prominently in your menu. Here's how to share your Avatar in a new Facebook post or make it your Facebook profile picture. Open Facebook and tap Settings > Avatars. Your Avatar will load. Tap Share (arrow), then tap Create Post to add your Avatar to a new post. Select a pose, then tap Next. Type your message, select an audience, and tap Post. You've shared your Avatar in a new Facebook post. To make your Avatar your profile picture, go to your Avatar page, tap Share, then tap Make Profile Picture. Select pose and background color, then tap Next, Select the down arrow to choose a time period to keep your Avatar as your profile picture, then tap Save. Your Avatar is now your profile picture. View and Send Your Avatar Stickers From your main Avatar page, you can also view and send Avatar stickers via Messenger, or copy a sticker to use on another platform. Go to your Avatar page and tap the Stickers icon. Scroll through to view all your available stickers. To send a sticker via Messenger, tap it, then tap Send in Messenger. Type a message, then select a contact or group conversation, and tap Send. Your Avatar sticker will be sent via Messenger. To copy a sticker, tap the sticker, then tap Copy Sticker. Paste it into a text or email, or somewhere else, and send as usual. More Ways to Share Your Avatar From your Avatar page, it's also possible to share an Avatar sticker directly via text and email (without copying and pasting), as well as share it to Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and more. From your Avatar page, tap the Stickers icon, tap a sticker, then tap More Options. Tap Messages, Mail, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or another option. In this example, we selected Instagram. We're taken to Instagram, where we're prompted to write a caption. Then tap OK > Share to share the Avatar sticker on Instagram. Back under More Options, scroll down for additional ways to use your Avatar sticker, including Copy, Save Image, Assign to Contact, and more. Post Your Facebook Avatar in a Comment It's also easy to post an Avatar sticker in a Facebook comment. Find a Facebook post to which you'd like to post a comment, and tap Comment. Tap the Avatar icon in the comment box, then tap a sticker. Write a comment, if you like, and tap Send. Your Avatar sticker is included in your comment. Use an Avatar While You're in Messenger If you're sending a message in Messenger, it's easy to add a Facebook Avatar sticker. In Messenger, tap a conversation or start a new one. Type a message, if you like, then tap the Emoji icon in the message box. Under Stickers, tap an Avatar sticker. Your sticker and mesage will be sent. Change your Avatar at any time by going to your Avatar page via the Facebook app and tapping Edit (pencil icon). Adjust hair, clothing, or any other feature, then save your new look.
