With the purchase of an Ancestry.com DNA kit, you’re given so much information about your genetic history, and Ancestry.com provides an entertaining feature for music lovers: a Spotify playlist based on your DNA results. AncestryDNA's Spotify playlist feature was a short-term marketing initiative by Ancestry and is no longer available. How to Make a Playlist on Spotify You must have submitted and received your DNA results from AncestryDNA.com. Creating your Ancestry Spotify playlist is quick and easy. Log into your Ancestry.com account. Once logged in, at the top of the page, select the DNA dropdown menu, then select Your DNA Results Summary. You should see a banner near the top of the website; select Make your mix to get started. Select Pick Your Regions to choose which countries from your DNA results you want to add to your playlist. Now select your top 5 regions (if applicable) and select Continue when you’ve finished. Selected countries should have a green box next to it once selected. You can only add 5 countries. If you’re satisfied with your countries list, select Get your playlist. If not, select Go Back to adjust your country selections. Once your playlist is ready, select Listen on Spotify. You can also share your results with Facebook and Twitter. Just select their corresponding icons before leaving this screen. Next, you’ll need to either Sign Up for Spotify or Log In if you already have a Spotify account. You can access your new playlist with a free account or premium (paid) account. For free accounts, you will experience ads occasionally during play. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a new playlist titled, "The Unique Sound of Your Ancestry." Here, you can listen to your new playlist, follow it, and even share it on on social media. Just select Play and enjoy some music hits from your own heritage. How to Find More Songs for Your Ancestry Spotify Playlist While it seems only 20 songs are provided, you can still add your own music as you discover more artists from your ancestral countries. While you can’t search for music by country, Spotify has a handy setting that will continue to play music once your playlist has completed. It presents songs similar to what you’ve just listened to and is a great way to discover some new tunes. On Desktop In Spotify, select the down arrow at the top-right corner, then select Settings. Scroll down and toggle Autoplay similar songs when your music ends on. That's it! On Mobile From within the Spotify app, Tap Home. At the bottom right of the screen, tap Your Library. Tap the gear icon at the top right corner to open the settings. Scroll down and toggle on Keep on listening to similar tracks when your music ends.
