WhatsApp groups are free to use and are easy to to set up if you know how. Here's how to create a WhatsApp group, add contacts, and send a group message. What Is a WhatsApp Group? A WhatsApp group allows you to send and exchange chat messages, photos, and videos to a group of people in real-time. You can even use the group calling feature to create a conference call with the members in the group. A group makes it easier to communicate, as you don't have to select individual contacts every time you want to send a message. How to Set up a WhatsApp Group Pekic/Getty Images Setting up WhatsApp group easy to do. Below are the instructions for setting up a group on either iOS and Android. Setting up a WhatsApp Group on iPhone In WhatsApp, tap Chats at the bottom of the screen. The New Groups option won't be visible if you don't have any open chats on this screen. Tap New Group in the right top corner. Choose the participants that you wish to add to the group, then tap Next. You can also add people later, so don't worry if you miss someone. On the next screen, choose a subject (name) for the group, then tap Create. To create a group message, tap in the compose area, enter your message, then tap send. To place a call to the group, tap the phone icon in the top right. Setting up a WhatsApp Group on Android Setting up a WhatsApp group in Android is similar to setting one up in iOS. The differences are mainly in the location of the options. In WhatsApp, tap Chats at the top of the screen. Tap the three vertical dots in the right top corner, then tap New group. On the next screen, choose the participants you wish to add, then tap the green arrow to finish adding the member(s). On the next screen, add a group name, then tap the green checkmark to finish creating the group. To start sending messages, tap in the compose message area, enter your message, then tap send. How to Add Members to a WhatsApp Group Chat Once you've created a group, you may be wondering how to add additional members to the group. As long as you're the person who created the group, you can go into the group's settings and add members there. Adding Members to a WhatsApp Group Chat on iPhone Tap Chats to view your group. From your list of chats, tap the name of the group, slide your finger to the left, then tap More. Next, tap Group Info to access the group's settings. Tap Add Participants. You can also tap Invite to Group via Link. Choose the contacts you wish to add by tapping the contact(s) name. Tap Add in the top right corner, then tap Add again to complete. The participants are now added to the group and can view any new messages sent to the group. Adding Members to a WhatsApp Group Chat on Android Again, adding participants to a WhatsApp Group on Android is similar to doing it on an iOS device, but the location of the options might be slightly different. Tap Chats in WhatsApp to view the group, then tap the group name to enter the group chat window. Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner, then tap Group Info. On the next screen, tap Add Participants. You can also tap Invite via Link. In the participants list, tap the name of the contacts you wish to add, then tap the green checkmark to complete the process. The new members will be added to the group and can see any new messages sent to the group. How to Delete a WhatsApp Group Things change, and you can delete a WhatsApp group with ease if you need to. You can also archive a group and hide it from view if you don't want to keep it in your Chats list. Archiving won't delete the group from WhatsApp, and you can access the group later if you wish to view the messages.
