So how do you clear your search bar history? It depends on which browser you use, but in all cases the steps aren't complicated. In just a few minutes, anyone can learn how to delete search bar history. This guide contains step-by-step instructions for Mozilla's Firefox, Microsoft's Edge and Internet Explorer, Opera, and Apple's Safari browsers. Clear Search Bar History in Firefox Mozilla's flagship browser has a couple of quick methods for deleting your search bar history. One that handles addresses on a case by case basis, and one that just wipes everything clean. These steps should work on both Firefox for desktop and mobile To Delete Individual URLS Open a Firefox window and start typing in the address bar.When the URL you want to remove appears, press the Down key on your keyboard or tap and hold to select it.When highlighted, press the Delete key on your keyboard, or tap and hold until the Delete notification appears. Agree to it.You can continue to do this for any URLs you want to see individually removed from your search bar history. To Delete Your Entire Search History If you've rather delete them all though, try this method instead. Open a Firefox window and select the three-line/hamburger menu icon in the top right-hand corner.Select Options from the drop-down menu.Select Privacy and Security from the left-hand menu and scroll down to the History section.Select Clear History.Select Browsing & Download History and Form & Search History if they’re not already selected, then select Clear Now. On Firefox for mobile, the menu icon is in the bottom right-hand corner. Clear Search Bar History in Microsoft Edge Edge doesn't let you delete search bar entries individually, but you can clear them all out in one go. Open an Edge window and select the three-dot menu icon in the top-right.Select Settings > Privacy and security.Select Choose what to clear.Select Browsing History, then select Clear. Clear Search Bar History in Internet Explorer Internet Explorer has two options for clearing your search bar. Individual link removal and wholesale deletion. These steps will work on Internet Explorer 10 and 11. To remove individual links Open an Internet Explorer window and start typing in the URL you want to remove in the address bar.Press the Down arrow on your keyboard or tap to select the URL you wish to remove.Then select the red X at the end of the address bar to delete that particular URL. To clear your entire search bar history Open an Internet Explorer window and select the gear icon in the top right-hand corner.Select Safety > Delete Browsing History.Select History, then select Delete. Clear Search Bar History in Opera Opera offers two methods for deleting your search bar history. You can do it one at a time with individual addresses, or wipe them all clean. These steps will work on Opera for PCs and mobile. For individual links Open an Opera window and type in the first few letters of the URL you want to remove from the search bar.Select the URL you want to remove.Select the X at the end of the bar to delete it. To remove all search bar history from Opera Open an Opera window and select the O logo in the top left-hand corner.Select Settings > Advanced and Privacy and Security.Select Clear browsing data. Select Browsing history, then select how far back you want to delete your search bar from. When ready, select Clear data. Clear Search Bar History in Safari for macOS On macOS, Safari allows you to delete your entire browsing history in one go and piecemeal. To remove individual URLs Open Safari and select the History menu. Then select Show all History.In the search field, enter the website you want to remove from your search bar history.Select the website you want to remove and press the Delete key. To delete your entire search bar history Open Safari and select History. Select Clear History and use the pop-up menu to select how far back you want to clear your search back history.Select Clear History. Clear Search Bar History in Safari for iOS Removing the browsing history on Safari for iOS is slightly different from its macOS counterpart. To clear your search bar history for a few addresses Open Safari and tap the Bookmarks icon (it looks like an open book).Tap the History tab (clock icon) and find any addresses you want to remove.Swipe to the left on the individual URLs to delete them from your search bar history. To clear your entire search history Open the Settings app, then tap Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data. You may receive a pop up asking you to confirm your choice. Tap Clear History and Data again to confirm your decision.
