It's where we share photos, talk to family, and tell our friends where we're hanging out. One of the easiest ways to do this through a Facebook check-in that includes a location. It's done using either a computer or the mobile app on your phone. While it is a bit easier (and more convenient) to check-in using your phone while you're out and about, you can also do it with your computer. Both methods use the same basic options and allow you to tag friends, post a status update, and even add photos. How to Check-in on Facebook Using a Computer If you're already home and sitting in front of your computer, you can still check into Facebook using a web browser. Open Facebook.com and click in the What's on your mind text field to start a new status. Select the three horizontal dots at the bottom right of the status bar. Select Check in. The icon next to Check In is a red location marker. Type in a location. Depending on your location, you may not even need to type in anything. It may already be displayed in the drop-down menu. Select the location from the drop-down list. Select share to check in on Facebook. At this point you can select the different options to tag friends, add photos, or type out a post before you hit the share button. How to Check-in on Facebook Using the App The interface for the Facebook mobile app is slightly different than the browser interface, but checking in from your status works in much the same way. Open Facebook on your phone. If you don't have the Facebook app installed on your phone you can also navigate to Facebook.com using Chrome or your default browser. Tap the What's on your mind text field to open a new post. Tap Check In. The Check In option has a red location marker icon next to it. Type in the name of your location. Tap to select your location from the drop-down list. Tap friends' names to tag them in your Check-In if desired. You can also skip this step if you don't want to tag anyone. Tap Done. If you're finished composing your post, tap Share to post your check-in. Checking in on Facebook is a fun way to share your location and activities with friends and loved ones on Facebook. Just like any other post you can adjust who sees your check-ins and use it to share tags and photos of your life.
