How to Change Snooze Time on iPhone

Wouldn't you like to know how to change the snooze time on an iPhone? As you may have discovered, there's no way to change the default snooze interval on the iPhone alarm clock—it's perpetually stuck on nine minutes. However, there are ways to work around it.

Keep reading to learn how to create your own custom snooze interval on iPhone, plus some instructions on how to change the snooze interval on three popular iOS alarm clock apps (Progressive Alarm, Alarmy, and Sleep Cycle).

Why You Can't Change iPhone's Snooze Time

Have you wondered why your iPhone snooze is always set to nine minutes? It's Apple's way of paying homage to old fashioned alarm clocks, which were designed with this limitation. While it's a quaint idea, it's not terribly functional, but you can set your snooze time to whatever you want by creating your own snooze intervals.

How to Create Your Own iPhone Snooze Time

Creating any length snooze interval is easy. Just decide when you want the first alarm to go off, then create an additional alarm for your preferred snooze interval. For example, if you want an alarm at 7:00 am with a "snooze" at 7:05 am, you would need to create two alarms.

  1. Open your Clock app, tap Alarm at the bottom, then tap the + in the top right to create a new alarm.

  2. Set your preferred wake up time, e.g., 7:00 am, disable the Snooze setting, then tap Save.

  3. Tap the + again and create the next alarm, e.g., 7:05 am. If you don't want the default snooze going off nine minutes later, disable the Snooze setting again. If want the default snooze on, keep it on. Tap Save to save the alarm.

  4. Repeat step 3 to create any additional "snooze" alarms.

Alarm Clock Apps for iOS That Let You Set a Custom Snooze Time

If you find the above workaround a little clunky or annoying, you also have the option of using a third-party alarm clock app. Many alarm clock apps are highly customizable, allowing you to easily change your snooze time. Here's how to change the snooze time on Progressive Alarm, Alarmy, and Sleep Cycle.

Progressive Alarm

Progressive Alarm features lovely Tibetan singing bowl sounds that gradually increase in volume to gently wake you up. To change the snooze setting in Progressive Alarm:

  1. Open Progressive Alarm, and tap Options.

  2. Tap Snooze Time.

  3. Choose your preferred Snooze Time (up to 30 minutes).

Nicknamed the “World's Most Annoying Alarm App," Alarmy has a host of features to help you get out of bed. And, while you may have to solve math problems or photograph your room to turn off the alarm, it's easy to customize your snooze time.

  1. Open Alarmy and tap your preferred alarm.

  2. Tap Snooze.

  3. Choose your preferred snooze interval, then tap Done.

Sleep Cycle

Sleep Cycle is a popular smart alarm that uses patented sound technology to track your sleep. In addition to its many sophisticated features, you can also adjust your snooze time.

  1. Open Sleep Cycle and tap Profile at the bottom.

  2. Under Settings, tap More.

  4. Tap Regular, then choose your preferred interval (up to 20 minutes).
