How to Cancel a Groupon

Refunds on your virtual coupons made simple


Similar to any other good or service your purchase, you're able to either cancel your Groupon order or request a refund. However, before you learn how to cancel a Groupon or try to get a refund, you have to understand how Groupon works and under which conditions you qualify for a cancellation or a refund.

Do I Qualify for a Groupon Refund?

The Groupon refund policy is something you always have to keep in mind when attempting to get a refund for your Groupon. All Groupons fall under four different categories and each of these categories has a different policy:

  • Local Deals: Can be returned for a refund within 3 days of the purchase.
  • Groupon Getaways: Refunds will be available until the "book-by" date.
  • Groupon Goods: Can be returned for a refund within 30 days of the delivery date.
  • Groupon Live: Cannot be refunded past the day of purchase, unless the event is canceled or rescheduled.

Final Sales cannot be canceled or returned. Similarly, if you've viewed your voucher, then you're unable to cancel the order.

How to Cancel a Groupon

Once you've identified which category your Groupon falls under and determined if you qualify for a cancellation, you may proceed to process your cancellation and obtaining your refund.

You can follow the steps below to cancel your Groupons of any of the categories listed above with the exception of the Groupon Goods. For Groupon Goods, you will need to return them instead.

  1. Open your preferred browser and navigate to Groupon.

  2. Select Sign In.

  3. Enter your credentials and select Sign In.

  4. Once you are logged in to your account, select My Stuff > My Groupons.

  5. Select View Details.

    Don't select View Voucher, otherwise, you won't be able to cancel your Groupon.

  6. Select Edit Order on the left side of the page.

  7. Select Cancel Order on the left side of the page.

    If you're within the cancellation window and don't see the option to self-cancel, you will have to get in contact with the customer support team.

  8. Select I would like to cancel my purchase, then select Cancel Order.

    If you missed your deadline to cancel your Groupon, you can always Trade-In your Groupon for a different local deal.

  9. You might be prompted once again for confirmation, select confirm.

You will receive a notification once your order has been successfully canceled.

How Do I Return My Groupon Goods?

Groupon Goods cancellations work a little differently than any of the other categories. If you decide to cancel your order prior to it shipping, then the process is pretty much the same. However, if your order has already shipped, your steps will change a little bit.

  1. Follow steps 1-5 from the cancellation process above.

  2. Select Return Package.

  3. Print your pre-paid labeled.

  4. Attached the labeled to your package and return it back to Groupon.

    Returns will not qualify for a refund if they're missing the Groupon Label.

  5. Once your refund is processed, you'll receive an email from Groupon with a subject titled "Your Refund Has Been Processed."

It can take up to 10 business days for the refund to reflect under your account.

How to Trade-In your Groupon?

If, for any reason, you missed the time allowed to process your cancellation, you can always Trade-In your voucher.

  1. Contact Groupon support to have the Trade In Voucher option enable.

  2. Once enabled, select My Stuff > My Groupons, then select Trade In Voucher.

  3. Click Confirm to finalize the Trade-in.

Usually, support will only give you 24 hours to spend your Groupon Bucks after you've traded in your voucher.
