There's a a text feature you can easily add to both photo and video snaps, but did you know you can also add clickable links to Snapchat? Whether you're sending a snap to a friend or posting a story, you can easily attach a link that opens in a new window when friends swipe up on your snap or story. Use it to point friends to your blog, an interesting news article, your latest YouTube video, a fundraiser link, a sign-up form, or anything else you want. Unsplash How to Add a Link to Snapchat Snaps and Stories The following instructions apply to the Snapchat app for both iOS and Android. Screenshots are provided for the iOS version, but Android users should be able to follow along. Open the Snapchat app and do whatever you need to do to take a photo or film a video snap. You might do this from the main camera tab, by replying to a friend in your conversations tab, or by uploading a photo/video from your device. Apply as many filters, stickers, emojis, text, or drawings that you want. Tap the link icon that appears in the vertical menu of icons down the right side of the snap preview. If you can remember the link you want to add, type it into the "Type a URL" field at the top. If the link you want to add is very long or too hard to remember, you can briefly navigate away from Snapchat (without closing down the app) and open your mobile web browser (or other app) to copy the URL. When you go back to Snapchat, it will recognize that you copied a link by displaying a My Clipboard note. Tap Allow to see the link you just copied, then tap the listed link to add it to the "Type a URL" field. The link will open in a browser window within Snapchat. Tap Attach to Snap at the bottom to attach it to your snap. The link icon in the vertical menu should appear to be highlighted in white. To send your snap to friends, tap the blue arrow. To post it as a story, tap the square with a plus sign. If you decide you'd rather remove the link before you send your snap to friends or post it to your stories, tap the highlighted link icon in the vertical menu. When the web page loads, tap Remove Attachment at the bottom to remove the link from your snap. The link icon in the vertical menu will no longer be highlighted. When your friends receive your snap or view your story, they'll see the link at the bottom of your snap. To visit the web page, they can swipe up on the link. If you post a snap to your stories with a link, you'll be able to see how many people view it, but you won't get to see the number of clicks on your link. Adding Links to Chats You can also add links to your chats in Snapchat, either by typing them directly into a chat or by copying them and posting them into the chat field. Once you tap Send, links will appear in the chat as a box with a thumbnail, the name of the web page, and the link. When friends tap links in the chat, they'll open in a browser within the Snapchat app. Was this page helpful? Thanks for letting us know!
