How to Access GMX Mail in Gmail

You can set up Gmail to let you access GMX Mail messages and send from your address as well.

Gmail Can Be Your Email Program in the Cloud

These services up in the cloud (say, Gmail) are still part of the globe, are they not? At least… from a distance?

They must be, because Global Message Exchange (GMX) can touch your Gmail Inbox easily. More precisely, Gmail reaches out to you GMX Mail account using POP and download all new messages automatically.

It can even apply a label automatically so all your GMX Mail messages are in one place, leaving your Gmail Inbox uncluttered. Of course, you can also send new emails and replies right from Gmail using your GMX Mail "" address.

Access GMX Mail in Gmail

To set up POP access to a GMX Mail account in Gmail:

  1. Click the settings gear in your Gmail's top right corner.
  2. Follow the Settings link.
  3. Go to the Accounts and Import tab.
  4. Click Add a POP3 mail account you own under Check mail from other accounts (using POP3):.
    • Depending on your version of Gmail, this could also be Add a mail account you own under Get mail from other accounts:.
  5. Enter your GMX Mail address ("", for instance) under Email address:.
  6. Click Next Step ››.
  7. Type your full GMX Mail address (e.g. "") again under Username:.
  8. Enter your GMX Mail password under Password:.
  9. Type "" (excluding the quotation marks) under POP Server:.
  1. Optionally:
    • Check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server. unless you want all your GMX Mail messages only in Gmail.
    • Make Gmail apply a label automatically to all your GMX Mail messages by checking Label incoming messages:.
    • Prevent GMX Mail messages from appearing in your Gmail Inbox and check Archive incoming messages (Skip the Inbox). You can always find the retrieved emails under the auto-assigned label or All Mail.
  1. Click Add Account ››.
  2. Make sure Yes, I want to be able to send mail as... is selected.
  3. Click Next Step ››.
  4. Click Next Step ›› again.
  5. Now click Send Verification.
  6. Switch to the main Gmail window and go to the Inbox.
  7. Open the Gmail Confirmation - Send Mail as... email as soon as it arrives (this may take a couple of minutes).
  8. Highlight and copy the confirmation code.
  9. Paste the code into the Enter and verify the confirmation code form.
  10. Click Verify.
