From voice activation with Bixby Voice to image recognition through Bixby Vision and AI leaning via Bixby Home, below are five ways Bixby improves your life. Get Acquainted With Bixby on Your Samsung Phone Bixby’s full capabilities are available on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S9, plus the Galaxy Note 9. Limited capabilities are available on other Samsung Galaxy devices. Use Bixby Voice to Control Your Phone Bixby Voice's strong suit is that it understands voice commands. In particular, it interprets commands that operate the phone. Any commands you use with the touchscreen can be spoken into your phone. When you want to send an email, for example, tell Bixby to open your mail app and send an email to your friend Sam. You'll avoid having to find the email app on your phone and search for the recipient's email address. To use voice commands with Bixby Voice: Press and hold the Bixby key on the side of your Samsung Galaxy phone. If this is the first time you're using Bixby Voice, the app will guide you through the setup process. Say a command. To find a list of commands that work with Bixby and your phone, tap Search Commands. Release the Bixby key. Find Information With Bixby Vision Have you ever come across a plant you’ve never seen before and want to find out what it’s called? Maybe you want to figure out what kind of dog your neighbor has, or you’re concerned someone has stolen images from your website. When you want to find information but typing a description doesn't get results, take a picture instead. Bixby Vision makes it easy to visually search for information. It uses your phone's camera to snap a picture of the object and then finds similar images on the web. Open Bixby Home by either pressing the Bixby key on your phone or swiping right. Scroll down the page to find the Bixby Vision card, and tap Image. When you don't understand a foreign language, use the Bixby Vision Text tool to translate the text into your native language. Point the camera at the object. Bixby Vision attempts to identify the object and displays suggestions. Tap the suggestion that matches what you’re looking for, and Bixby Vision opens a list of matches. If Bixby Vision suggests images unrelated to the image you want, take the picture from a different angle. Tap an image and your default web browser opens to display the search results. View the web page to find information about your photo. Shop With Bixby Vision Have you ever browsed a magazine, saw something you liked, and wondered where you could buy one just like it? Bixby Vision uses your camera to identify the item and list stores that have it for sale. Open Bixby Home and scroll to the Bixby Vision card. Tap Shopping and point the camera at an item. Bixby Vision attempts to identify the object and displays a series of text results. Tap the result that matches the item. Bixby Vision displays a list of matching products. Tap a product in the list to go shopping. Use Bixby Home to Find All Your Websites on One Page Wouldn’t it be convenient to find all your favorite websites in one place? Bixby Home displays your social media news feeds and your most visited websites in one convenient location. Not only can you organize your online life, but you’ll also find other useful apps in Bixby Home. You’ll find an app that keeps you up-to-date with the weather, a list of your frequently used apps, quick access to your favorite tunes on Spotify or another service, and more. Bixby Home is organized into cards and each card is a placeholder for all of these apps. If Bixby Home contains a card for an app you don’t use or don’t want to see, remove the card. There are also more cards that can be added to Bixby Home. Here's how to add a new card to Bixby Home: Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner to open the menu. Tap Settings and then Cards. To display an app on the Bixby Home page, move the slider to the On position. To remove an app from Bixby Home, move the slider to the Off position. Tap Back until you return to Bixby Home. Use Bixby to Control Your TV With Your Voice Imagine not having to search through the TV menu options to search for content, change the brightness, switch to the DVD player, or change the picture mode. It’s all possible with Bixby on your Samsung TV. Here's how to use Bixby on a Samsung smart TV: Press and hold the Microphone button on your TV remote. Say a command, such as "lower the volume," "go to channel 12," or "show a list of action movies." Release the button on the remote. The TV recognizes the command and makes the changes.
