How Many Snaps Can Spectacles Hold?

Over a hundred HD videos or thousands of pictures all on your glasses

What to Know

  • Spectacles can store up to 150 video Snaps or 3,000 still Snaps.
  • Video length, and how many videos and pictures you already have stored, will influence how many of each you can take.
  • After being imported and backed up on your phone, Snaps are automatically deleted from Spectacles' storage.

This article explains how many Snaps your Spectacles can hold and how you can maximize your glasses' storage and avoid maxing it out.

While Spectacles can only store a certain amount of photos and videos, since Snaps are deleted off your Spectacles when imported, which will happen frequently, the storage limits of Spectacles are almost never reached, even when taking a lot of photos and videos.

How Long Can You Record on Spectacles?

If you're just recording video, you can take up to 150 video snaps, but this will depend on how long your videos are.

Longer videos mean fewer Snaps altogether, and since most people don't take exclusively videos or pictures and rather a mix of both, this will also impact how much you can record.

Luckily, though, all Snapchat Spectacles videos are recorded in HD, and if you have a pair of second-generation or third-generation Spectacles, you'll record at 60 frames-per-second, too.

How Many Pictures Can You Take on Spectacles?

You can store 3,000 picture Snaps on your Spectacles at one time. However, this will naturally be impacted by having videos on your Spectacles as well, meaning less room for pictures.

Snapchat Spectacles pictures are also taken in circles, as opposed to the rectangular screens of phones. This means that when viewing, or when someone else opens a Snap you send them, one can rotate their phone to see more of the image.

Where Snaps Are Stored on Spectacles

Until imported, Snaps are saved on the Spectacles themselves. After being imported, Snaps are deleted off Spectacles by default and stored in the Memories section of the Snapchat app.

From Memories, you can send Snaps to whoever you'd like as well as save the image directly to your phone for use outside of the Snapchat app.

Snapchat Memories

To access Snapchat Memories, simply open the application and swipe up: This will open your Memories tab.

If your Snaps are not automatically imported into Memories, there will be a pop-up within Memories giving you the option to import Snaps from Spectacles, which only takes seconds.

As a result of all this, Snaps are pretty regularly moved off Spectacles onto your paired phone, so there never tend to be many Snaps stored on the Spectacles themselves, since Snaps are deleted off your Spectacles when imported.

  • How do I import Snaps from my Spectacles?

Android automatically imports Snaps to your Snapchat Memories. From there, you can save Snaps to your phone's camera roll. On iOS, you'll see the option to Import Snaps from Spectacles in your Snapchat Memories.

  • How do I take a 30 second Snap on Spectacles?

Press the snap button three times. The first press starts recording for 10 seconds, and subsequent presses extend the recording 10 seconds for a maximum of 30 seconds.

  • How do I turn off my Snapchat Spectacles?

There's no way to power off Snap Spectacles. On a full charge, your Spectacles should last all day with moderate use.
