What Is the Latest Version of Firefox?

The latest version of Firefox is 87, which was released on March 23, 2021.

The Firefox release notes detail what has changed since the previous version. Here are a few of those changes:

  • New: You’ll encounter less website breakage in Private Browsing and Strict Enhanced Tracking Protection with SmartBlock, which provides stand-in scripts so that websites load properly.
  • New: To further protect your privacy, our new default HTTP Referrer policy will trim path and query string information from referrer headers to prevent sites from accidentally leaking sensitive user data.
  • New: We’re proud to announce full support for macOS built-in screen reader, VoiceOver.
  • Fixed: We’ve fixed several significant accessibility issues: Video controls now have visible focus styling and video and audio controls are now keyboard navigable; Firefox now sets a useful initial focus in Add-ons Manager; Firefox will now fire a name/description change event when aria-labelledby/describedby content changes.
  • Changed: To prevent user data loss when filling out forms, we’ve disabled the Backspace key as a navigation shortcut for the back navigation button.
  • Changed: We've removed items from the Library menu that weren't used often or have other access points in the browser: Synced tabs, Recent highlights, and Pocket list.

Other Versions of Firefox

Firefox is available in many languages for Windows, Mac, and Linux, in both 32-bit and 64-bit. You can see all of these downloads on one page on Mozilla's site.

Firefox is also available for Android devices from the Google Play store and for Apple devices from the iOS App Store.

Pre-release versions of Firefox are also available for download.

A number of download sites offer the latest version of Firefox, but some of these sites bundle additional, probably unwanted, software with their download of the browser. Save yourself the trouble and use Mozilla's website to download Firefox.
