What Is the Latest Version of Firefox?

The latest version of Firefox is 93.0, which was released on October 5, 2021. The Firefox release notes detail what has changed since the previous version; here are a few of those changes:

  • New: Firefox now supports the new AVIF image format, which is based on the modern and royalty free AV1 video codec. It offers significant bandwidth savings for sites compared to existing image formats. It also supports transparency and other advanced features.
  • New: Firefox PDF viewer now supports filling more forms (XFA-based forms, used by multiple governments and banks).
  • New: When available system memory is critically low, Firefox on Windows will automatically unload tabs based on their last access time, memory usage, and other attributes. This should help reduce Firefox out-of-memory crashes. Switching to an unloaded tab automatically reloads it.
  • New: Firefox now blocks downloads that rely on insecure connections, protecting against potentially malicious or unsafe downloads.
  • Fixed: The VoiceOver screen reader now correctly reports checkable items in accessible tree controls as checked or unchecked.

Other Versions of Firefox

Firefox is available in many languages for Windows, Mac, and Linux, in both 32-bit and 64-bit. You can see all of these downloads on one page on Mozilla's site.

Not all operating systems are supported. Check Firefox System Requirements for all the details. The posted requirements for the latest Firefox version include Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, macOS 11-10.12, and GNU/Linux.

Firefox is also available for Android devices from the Google Play store and for Apple devices from the iOS App Store.

Pre-release versions of Firefox are also available for download.

A number of download sites offer the latest version of Firefox, but some of these sites bundle additional, probably unwanted, software with their download of the browser. Save yourself the trouble and use Mozilla's website to download Firefox.
