How to Get HBO Max on Roku Devices

If you're ready for some HBO Max entertainment, one of the easiest ways to get it is by downloading the HBO Max app to your Roku device. To do that, all you need to do is go to the Roku Channel Store from a web browser or your Roku device and locate the app.

Roku refers to the apps on its devices as Channels, so installing an HBO Channel is the same as installing an HBO Max app.

How to Add HBO Max from a Web Browser

If you're already online, you can add HBO Max directly from your web browser. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Roku Channel store. If prompted, provide your Roku log-in credentials to gain access to the store.

  2. Using the Search channel bar near the top of the screen, search for HBO Max.

  3. Click HBO Max in the search results.

  4. On the next screen, click +Add Channel.

The channel will be added to your Roku channel line-up, and the next time you access your Roku, you will be able to select it from your channel list.

How to Add HBO Max From a Roku Device

If you prefer, you can add the HBO Max channel directly from your Roku device. Here's how to do that:

  1. Start your Roku device and navigate to the Channel store.

  2. Use the remote to search for HBO Max.

  3. Select it from the search results.

  4. Select +Add Channel.

It may take a few minutes for the channel to download and be added to your menu, but once it has, all you have to do to access HBO Max is click the channel icon.

How to Sign Up for HBO Max on Roku

If you already have an HBO or HBO Max account, you can sign into the HBO Max channel using the credentials you used to sign up for the account. So, for example, if you have HBO through AT&T, use your AT&T credentials. Or, if you have it through your cable provider, use your cable credentials.

If you don't have an HBO Max account yet, signing up for one is easy. You can either use these instructions to sign up for HBO Max on the HBOMax.com website, or you can sign in through the Roku channel you just installed.

  1. After you've installed the HBO Max Channel on your Roku device, select it to open the app and then select Start Free Trial or Subscribe Now.

  2. Enter the requested information (name, email address, and password) and then click Create Account.

  3. Enter payment details and choose your subscription level. HBO Max offers either a monthly or bi-annual subscription. When you're done, click Subscribe or Start My Free Trial.

You can begin streaming all HBO Max has to offer.
