How to Get HBO Max

This article explains how to get HBO Max if you're a cable subscriber, want a standalone subscription, or have a different HBO subscription.

Get HBO Max With a Cable Subscription

HBO Max is free with an HBO cable subscription from supported providers. To access the streaming service, you need to connect your provider account.

1. Go to HBO Max's site and click SIGN IN.

2. Click SIGN IN WITH A PROVIDER. The options include cable and mobile companies and streaming services like Hulu and YouTube TV.

3. Select your provider. If you don't see your provider, click VIEW ALL PROVIDERS.

4. Sign in to that account.

5. Once you're verified by your provider, then you can create an HBO Max account. Input your name and email address, tick the box to agree to HBO Max and terms and privacy policy, and click CREATE ACCOUNT.

6. HBO Max will email you a one-time code to confirm your address and connect the accounts. Input the code and click LINK ACCOUNTS.

7. From now on, you can log in directly to HBO Max without going through your provider. Click OK, GOT IT to finish.

Sign Up for HBO Max Online on Its Own

You can get HBO Max as a separate subscription without having cable.

1. Go to HBO Max's site and click Subscribe Now.

2. Select Choose a Plan.

3. Choose a plan with ads or without, then click Select Plan.

4. Provide your name, email address, and create a password. Then click CREATE ACCOUNT.

5. Next, add a payment method, and follow the prompts to complete the signup.

Get HBO Max as a Channel Add-On

Some streaming services, including Hulu and YouTube TV, offer HBO Max as a channel add-on to your subscription. YouTube TV offers HBO Max as a standalone add-on or as part of its Entertainment Plus bundle, which also includes Starz and Showtime.

Check your streaming service to see if it's possible to add HBO Max.

What About HBO Go Subscribers?

If you had an HBO Go subscription, it automatically turned into HBO Max. It's the same case if you subscribe to HBO via the Amazon Appstore, Apple, Google Play, Roku Channel Store, Samsung TV, WarnerMedia, Verizon Fios, and some other providers.
