If you received a message from someone that you think would be of interest to someone else, share that message. A quick way to share the message in Outlook.com is to forward the message to the people you want to share it with.

Instructions in this article apply to Outlook.com and Outlook Online.

Forward Emails That Have Attachments

If the email you want to forward has an attached file, the attachment is automatically attached to the new forwarded email message. These attachments appear at the top of the new email and display the file name and type (for example, PDF, DOCX, or JPG).

If you do not want to forward attachments with the email, select the X in the upper-right corner of the attachment box. This deletes the file attachment from the message, and the forwarded message text remains in the body of the email.

Clean Up Forwarded Emails

There may be content in a forwarded email that you do not want to include, such as email addresses of past recipients. Clean up the forwarded email by deleting any unwanted content.

For example, if you don't want to include the email address of the original sender, look for the header section of the past message where these details will be listed. This header information includes:

  • From: The person who sent the original email.
  • Sent: The date and time the original email was sent.
  • To: The recipients of the original email.
  • Cc: People who were copied on the original message.
  • Subject: The subject of the original email.

Edit out any information you don't want to be included and send the message.
