The Focal Dimension Sound Bar and Subwoofer is a two-piece sound bar/subwoofer system that consists of a 5-channel sound bar that also provides a sixth channel of amplification to power the Dimension subwoofer. The subwoofer also provides a platform to get your TV on top of.

As a supplement to my review of the Focal Dimension Sound Bar/Subwoofer system, the following is a photo look at the connections, features, and accessories that are included with the Dimension Sound Bar/Subwoofer package. More detailed specifications are also included in the above-mentioned review.

To start this photo look at Focal Dimension Sound Bar and Subwoofer is a photo of the package contents that come with the sound bar portion of this package.

Shown on this page is a look overall look at the sound bar unit as well as the additional accessories and documentation provided with it.

At the very top of the photo is a front view of the Dimension Sound Bar, which features a Bass Reflex Design with five front firing speakers, four of which are placed on the left and right, and one in the center.

Also, what is not visible in the photo, are ports on the left and right side for extended low-frequency response.

In addition, on the front right side of the sound bar is an onboard control interface which will be shown in more detail later in this profile as it is not visible in this photo.

Moving down, there is a photo of the rear of the Dimension Sound Bar, which features guide holes for the wall mount or removable table stands.

The rear panel connections are placed in a recessed compartment near the center (more details later in this photo profile).

The photo on the bottom displays the accessories and documentation that comes included with the Dimension Sound Bar.

Starting on the left side is the external power supply and power cord. In the center is the wall mount (if needed), and three copies of the user manuals that accommodate different languages. On the right side are the detachable table stands and remote control.

Focal Dimension Sound Bar - Connections and Room Setting Controls

Shown in this photo is a close-up of the connections and additional setting controls provided on the Focal Dimension Sound Bar.

Starting on the left, going down, are two HDMI inputs. a subwoofer preamp line output (for use with powered subwoofers), a Digital Optical audio input, and a set of Analog (RCA Stereo inputs

On the bottom left there is also micro-USB connection for service use (such as firmware updates).

Moving across to the right is are speaker connections for the Dimension Sub.

NOTE: The Subwoofer line output and Dimension Sub connections are different. The Dimension sub is a passive sub, which means that it gets its power from the Dimension sound bar, just as a regular speaker would. The Subwoofer line output is used if you are using a self-powered subwoofer (such as the Focal Sub Air Wireless Sub or any other powered subwoofer).

Staying on the right side, just below the Dimension Sub Out is the power receptacle for the plug-in power supply.

Moving down to the bottom center are some additional setting controls.

The Distance control optimizes how sound reaches your ears based on the seating distance from the sound bar.

The Position control optimizes the texture of the sound based on its position (wall, on a table, recessed slightly from the edge, and on a table or shelf placed at the edge).

The Room button takes into account the nature of your room acoustics.

The subwoofer control tells the Dimension sound bar what type of subwoofer you are using (Passive, Powered, or No Sub Used).

Shown in this photo is close-up of the previously mentioned onboard touch controls provided on the Focal Dimension Sound Bar.

On the top left of the control panel is the on/off button, with the volume control located on the right.

Just below the Volume Control is the Night Mode button. The Night Mode reduces the dynamic range of the sound output so that the lower and higher frequencies will retain their presence when listening at reduced volume levels - this feature only works with Dolby Digital-encoded sources.

Finally on the bottom of the front control panel are the source access (input selection) buttons.

Focal Dimension Subwoofer - Front and Bottom Photos

Shown on this page are two photos of the Focal Dimension Subwoofer, which is promoted as the companion piece for the Dimension Sound Bar.

Distinguishing things to point out include:

The subwoofer has a Bass Reflex design with two 8x3-inch elliptical side firing speaker drivers and four slotted bottom ports for extended bass response.

The subwoofer's shape allows for it to be used as a platform to set a TV on top - The Dimension Subwoofer can support TVs over 50-inches (no weight restriction is indicated, but

The front of the subwoofer is angled, which allows for the placement of the Dimension Sound Bar in front of it (see next photo).

The Dimension Subwoofer is Passive. This means that is does not have its own built-in amplifier - it must connection to the Dimension Sound Bar using the provided traditional clip-type speaker wire connection terminals. The Dimension Sound Bar provides the amplifier needed to power the Dimension Subwoofer.
