Shown on this page is are adjustment controls provided on the Fluance DB150 10-inch powered subwoofer.

Specs

  • Power: This is the standby On/Off switch. If set to On, the DB150 remains continuously on. If set to Auto, the subwoofer will start when a low-frequency signal is detected. When set to off, the subwoofer will not respond (there is also a Master Power switch not shown in this photo).
  • Phase: This control matched matches in/out subwoofer driver motion to the satellite speakers. This control can be set at either Normal (0 degrees) or Reverse (180 degrees).
  • Volume: This is also referred to as Gain. This is used to adjust the sound output of the subwoofer in relation to the other speakers.
  • Crossover: The crossover control sets the point at which you want the subwoofer to produce low-frequency sounds, against the ability of the center, main, and surround speakers to reproduce low frequencies. The crossover adjustment provided on the DB150 is variable from 40 to 150Hz.

Here is the final photo in our look at the Fluance XL Series High Performance 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater Speaker System. It shows a close-up view of the DB150 powered subwoofer's connections.

  • Line-In: This is where you plug in the subwoofer LFE or Preamp output from your home theater receiver or AV processor (if only using a single RCA cable, you can use either the R or L input, but the left input is most commonly used in such cases.
  • Speaker Input: This connection option is used with receivers or amplifiers that do not have an LFE or subwoofer line output. To be effective, your receiver needs to have front A and B speaker outputs. Use the A speaker connections on your receiver and amplifier for the front left and right speakers, and use the B speaker connections for the subwoofer. This ensures that the main left and right speakers are still connected to the home theater receiver for the mid-range and high frequencies.
  • Master Power Switch: Turns the main power on and off - this switch must be on for the subwoofer to operate, regardless of the position of the standby power switch shown in the previous photo.

Also shown at the very bottom are fuse and non-detachable power cord.
