Performing a factory reset on your Oculus Quest will remove all of the data from the headset, including all of your downloaded games and save data. Only perform this procedure if you’re selling or giving away the Quest, or you’ve exhausted other potential fixes.

How to Factory Reset Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2

When you perform a factory reset on the Oculus Quest or Oculus Quest 2, the headset is returned to its factory original state. That means firmware updates are removed, and the original firmware is restored. All of the save game data and downloaded games are also removed, and any settings you have tweaked are returned to the factory original state.

There are two reasons to factory reset an Oculus Quest or Quest 2:

  • You’re getting rid of the headset: If you’re planning on selling or giving away your Oculus Quest, then it’s a good idea to perform a factory reset first. This ensures all of your personal data is removed from the headset, so the person you sell or give the headset too can start with a fresh slate.
  • The headset is malfunctioning: If you’re experiencing problems with your Oculus Quest or Quest 2, then performing a factory will often fix the problem. However, this is an irreversible process, so it should be your last resort. If you’ve tried everything else, or you just don’t care about losing all of your save data, then you can perform a factory reset.

Here’s how to factory reset your Oculus Quest or Quest 2 using the headset:

  1. Press and hold the power and volume buttons on your Oculus Quest or Quest 2 until it turns on.
