Converting a PDF File to a Word Document

PDFs are the most common way to share documents between platforms, but a recipient who needs to edit the PDF doesn't always want to edit files in Adobe Acrobat. They'd rather work directly in a Word file.
Although you can cut and paste the contents of a PDF into a Word document, there is a better way. You can convert a PDF file to a Word document using Adobe Acrobat DC. This cloud app makes it easy to work with files in the office or on the go.

How to Convert a PDF File to Word

To convert a PDF file to Word, simply follow these easy steps:

  1. Open a PDF in Acrobat DC.
  2. Click the Export PDF tool in the right pane.
  3. Select Microsoft Word as the export format. Choose Word Document.
  4. Click Export. If the PDF has scanned text, Acrobat automatically runs text recognition.
  5. Name the new Word file and save it.

Exporting a PDF to Word does not alter your original PDF file. It remains in its original format.
