Open one with WPS Spreadsheets. Convert to Excel, PDF, Word, and other formats with that same program. This article describes the various file formats that use the ET file extension, including how to open and convert each type. What Is an ET File? A file with the ET file extension is a WPS Spreadsheets Workbook file created by WPS Office's spreadsheet program. Much like Microsoft's XLSX format, ET files support charts and formulas and store data in rows and columns of cells. ETT files are similar, but are template files used to create multiple similar ET files. The Easiteach software also uses ET files, but as lesson files for storing animations, images, text, and other teaching resources. Other ET files could be ETwin Electrodos de Tierra project data files used with a program that measures Transformation Center installations. ET also stands for some tech terms that have nothing to do with a file format, such as extended technology, expansion technology, editor toolkit, and electronic transmission. How to Open an ET File WPS Spreadsheets Workbook files can be opened with the free Spreadsheets program from WPS Office. You'll have to convert the file if you want to use it in Excel or some other spreadsheet program; skip down to the next section to learn how. ET files used to be called Kingsoft Spreadsheets, but the name changed when the office suite updated its name to WPS Office. Some spreadsheets might be encrypted, so you have to know the password before you can open and edit them. However, it might be possible to open the encrypted file if you convert it to a supported format that can be used with an Excel password cracker. Easiteach lesson files used to be usable with RM Education's Easiteach software, but it's no longer available to purchase. They also have a program called Easiteach Next Generation Lite, but it can only open other related files like ETNG, ETNT, and ETTE files. ETwin Electrodos de Tierra opens ET files that are used by that program. If you find that an application on your PC does try to open the file but it's the wrong application or you'd rather have another installed program open it, you can change the default program that opens ET files in Windows. How to Convert an ET File ET spreadsheet files can be converted to XLSX and XLS using WPS Office Spreadsheets. Open the file and go to Menu to find Save As; pick an Excel format to convert it to. That same menu lets you convert the spreadsheet to several other formats, too, including PDF, DBF, XML, HTML, CSV, PRN, DIF, and image formats. You might also have luck saving your ET file as an XLSX, XLS, CSV, or ODS file with the online file converter CloudConvert. If your ET file belongs to any of the other programs mentioned above, and if it can be converted, it's most likely done through the same software that can open it, similar to how WPS Office converts spreadsheets. Still Can't Open It? If your file doesn't open at this point, there's a good chance you're misreading the file extension. This can happen rather easily with this file extension since it's just two common letters, but that doesn't mean the formats are related. For example, EST files share a couple of the same file extension letters, but they don't have anything to do with ET files. They're instead either Streets & Tips map files or Construction Cost Estimate files. The same is true with ETL (Microsoft Event Trace Log), ETA (Google Earth Placemark), and EET (ESP/ESM Translator Database) files. You can't open those files with an ET file opener, and vice versa.
