Email Undisclosed Recipients in Windows Mail

Send a message without showing all of the email addresses

You don't want to share the private email addresses of friends or colleagues, even with other friends and people in your network. In Windows Mail, using Bcc: allows you to send an email to undisclosed recipients.

The instructions in this article apply to Windows Mail on Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7.

Create an Address Book Entry for Undisclosed Recipients

To save time, create a convenient address book entry that makes sending emails to undisclosed recipients faster and easier.

  1. Select People in the Navigation Pane. In Windows 7, select Tools > Windows Contacts from the menu.

  2. Select New Contact.

  3. Type "Undisclosed Recipients" in the Name field.

  4. Enter your email address under E-mail.

  5. Select Save and close the window.

Send an Email to Undisclosed Recipients in Windows Mail

To compose and deliver an email message to a group of undisclosed recipients in Windows Mail, start with a new message.

  1. Select the Choose Contacts icon at the right end of the To field. The Choose Contacts window will open.

  2. Begin typing "undisclosed" in the search box and select the Undisclosed Recipients contact in the search results. Select the Done checkmark in the lower-left corner of the window.

  3. Select Cc and Bcc to make these fields visible. Select the Choose Contacts icon at the right end of the Bcc field. The Choose Contacts window will open.

  4. Select the desired recipients. Select the Done checkmark in the lower-left corner of the window. Alternatively, enter email addresses to the Bcc field manually.

  5. Compose and send your message.

Email Undisclosed Recipients in Windows Mail on the Fly

Alternatively, you can send an email to undisclosed recipients without creating an address book entry by typing or selecting email addresses in the Bcc field. The email will not show any name or email address in the To field.
