To start of this look of the Darbee Visual Presence Darblet is a photo of what comes in the box when you purchase it.

Standing upright is the actual box the Darblet comes in.

Moving down, and starting on the left side, is the remote control, followed in the center by the actual Darblet processor, a quick start guide, and the power adapter.

Here is a closer look a the Darblet showing the top and front of the unit.

As you can see, this device is extremely small, coming in about 5-inches in length.

Both ends of the unit are clearly labeled as to what connections are needed (HDMI output on the left and HDMI and power adapter on the right), as are the front panel connections and controls.

Starting on the left front of the panel is an IR-in which allows a hardwire remote control connection that is commonly used in custom-installed setups, follower by a power indicator, Darbee processing on/off (off is a bypass function), Darbee Up (increases the processing effect), Darbee Down (decreases the processing effect), and Menu/Back (onscreen menu access). It is also important to note that the Darbee Up/Down buttons also double and menu up/down navigation controls when the Menu is activated.

As you can see the onboard controls are very small, making them not that convenient to use, but provided wireless remote (shown in more detail later in this gallery) duplicates all of the front panel controls.

Here is a closer look at the HDMI and Power connections provided on the ends of the Darblet. Although the power adapter is provided, you have to purchase your own HDMI cables.

The HDMI cable that comes from your source device connect to the end that also has the power adapter connection (shown on top), while the HDMI cable that goes from the Darblet to your TV goes into the opposite end (shown on bottom).

Here is a look at the Darblet in operation.

You can see how the cables are connected - with the HDMI source and power adapter plugged into the right end and the HDMI cable going from the Darblet to the TV (or video projector) plugged into the left end.

As you can see there are three indicator lights showing. The red light indicates that the Darblet is receiving power.

The green light indicates that the Darblet is running properly.

The blue light indicates that you have activated the video processing functions of the Darblet.

The Darblet is HDMI 1.4 compatible, which means that it can pass both 2D and 3D signals and is also fully HDCP compliant.

Shown on this page is the credit-card size IR remote control that is provided for the Darblet.

The controls along the top row duplicate the controls that located on Darblet's front panel.

Along the bottom row are three main settings, one for HiDef sources (such as Blu-ray), one for Gaming, and a third for Full Pop (maximum Darbee Vision effect). Also, the fourth button provides both a split screen before/after comparison, as well as a continuous wipe across the screen from left to right to show the effect of Darbee Visual Presence processing.

Here are examples of the Dablet's onscreen menu system.

Shown on the left side is the Darblet's Main Menu

The first three entries duplicate the Hi Def, Gaming, and Full Pop mode selections on the remote control.

The Help menu simply takes to brief explanations of each processing option: Hi Def is the most refined, Gaming emphasizes more depth, and Full Pop provides the most exaggerated result, but if used inappropriately, may result in some visible artifacts - most likely with text and facial detail.

Shown on the right is the Darblet's Settings menu.

Demo Mode - Activates the split screen or sweep screen before/after processing comparison features.

Logo Properties - Allows users to place the Darbeevision logo (which includes the processing effect percentage display) on the left, middle, or right of the screen - and further set the logo display to be persistent (always on) or not persistent (goes off after several seconds).

LED Brightness - brightens or dims the LED indicator light n the unit.

Language - Sets menu language (English, Spanish, German, French).

Advanced Settings - Adjusts fine detail - Do not use - Contact Darbee for more info.

Reset All Settings - If you mess up - this takes you back to the factory defaults.

Here is the first in a series of Darblet video processing examples.

Source: OPPO BDP-103 Blu-ray Disc Player - 2D 1080p output signal.

TV: Vizio e420i LED/LCD TV (on review loan) - 1080p Display Resolution.

The left side shows the image without Darblet processing, and the right side of the image shows the result of the Darblet's image processing using the Hi Def Mode set at 100% (the 100% percent setting was used to better illustrate the effect in this photo presentation).

In the photo, note the increased detail, depth, and wider dynamic contrast range on the tree leaves and grass on the post processed image on the right. Keep in mind that there is no resolution upscaling involved on the part of the Darblet - both images are 1080p.

Here is a second split screen example that shows the effect of the Darblet using the Hi Def setting with the effect set at 100%.

Just as in the previous image, left side has no Darblet processing, while, shows Darblet processing using the HiDef Mode set at 100%.

Note that on left image that although the bricks are detailed, the contrast appears somewhat subdued, resulting in many bricks "blending" into the wall. However, on the right side, as a result of the Darblet's processing, there is greater perception of the individual bricks. On other hand, if you, the window although well-detailed does look a little "hot". This where the user can "tone-down" the setting to get a better balance of detail and contrast balance.

Here is a third split screen example that shows the effect of the Darblet (right side image) using the Hi Def mode with the effect set at 100%.

In this example notice the difference in how more perceived detail, contrast, and brightness is in cornfield (on the right side), bringing closer to you, as well as the increased detail in the tree in the background.

Here is a final split screen example that shows the effect of the Darblet using the Hi Def mode with the effect set at 100%.

In this example, notice how the image on the left, although detailed well (such as the woman's blond hair), is not as detail as the half of the image that is on the right. On the right notice the increased depth in the texture of the couch (especially the stripes), and the clothing and flesh of the man standing up.
