Testing Setup and Performance

I used a total of four HDMI sources for this review: An OPPO BDP-103 and Insignia NS-2BRDVD Blu-ray Disc Players, Vizio Co-Star Media Streamer, and a Samsung DTB-H260F HDTV Tuner.

I found that both the HDMI handshake and signal integrity was not an issue. When comparing direct connection of the HDMI components to the HDTV and Video Projector used ( Westinghouse LVM-37w3 1080p LCD Monitor and BenQ W1080ST Video Projector) vs HDMI signals going through the switch before going to the Westinghouse monitor and BenQ video projector, the switch did not introduce any visible artifacts or changes in the source signal quality.

I also confirmed that the Quick6 passes 3D signals using the OPPO BDP-103 as the source and the BenQ W1080ST projector as the display device.

Note: I did not test the 4K features of the Quick6 as although the OPPO BDP-103 can provide an upscaled 4K signal source, I did not have access to a 4K UltraHD capable TV or Video Projector for this review.

In addition to direct-to-TV or video projector connection, I checked the option of making a separate HDMI connection to the TV for video and separate HDMI and digital optical/coaxial audio connections to an Onkyo TX-SR705 Home Theater receiver.

I also set up an other configuration where I connected the source components first to the switcher, then to receiver, and the receiver to the TV. In both cases that there were no handshake issues between the receiver, switcher, or either the TV or Video Projector. In addition to video, the switch did not have any problem passing all the available surround sound formats, as well as 2 and multi-channel PCM audio signals.

Two other features that worked well were InstaPrevue, which provided thumbnail views of each active HDMI input source, enabling a convenient way to see and select what input you want to access, and InstaPort, which provided exceptionally fast switching speed between inputs - the only delay was the TV or Video projector re-locking on the newly selected source, but was still faster than the input switching speed built-into most TVs and video projectors.

Had the sources been connected directly, instead of through the switcher, the switching delay would been much longer.

Final Take

The DVDO Quick6 HDMI Switcher not only provides a way for users to expand the number of HDMI-equipped components that can be connected to one HDTV, but with two HDMI outputs, users can send the same HDMI signal (either 2D or 3D) to two HDTVs or an HDTV and video projector, simultaneously. The Quick6 comes with an AC adapter and wireless remote that make installation and use easy.

If you are frustrated that your TV (or your home theater receiver) has run out of HDMI inputs, the DVDO Quick6 6x2 4K UltraHD HDMI Switch might be a great add-on solution.

The Quick6 provides inputs for up to six HDMI sources, such as a Blu-ray Disc Player, DVD Player, HD Cable/Satellite Box, Media Streamer. Also, with two MHL-enabled HDMI inputs, you can add the capability of playing back audio, video, and still image files from compatible portable devices.

In addition, the Quick6 is fully 2D, 3D, and up to 4K resolution compatible, and with two HDMI outputs, users can display images on two TVs, or TV and video projector, or send separate video and audio feeds to both a TV and home theater receiver.

It is also important to note that even though you are adding another "box" to your system, the Quick6 has a very slim low profile that can fit in small space.
