Driver Talent v7 in Windows 10

Driver Talent (previously called DriveTheLife) is a free driver updater tool that finds outdated, corrupted, and missing device drivers on your computer so you don't have to manually search for them online.

The program itself is clutter free and supports a number of features, all of which you'd expect from a program like this.

More About Driver Talent

Driver Talent is a feature-rich driver updater that even lets you reinstall drivers that don't have an update, something that can really be helpful if you're trying to solve a driver issue:

  • Finds drivers for Windows 10Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP
  • Drivers can be backed up using the Driver Talent program
  • You can see an updated driver's version number, file size, and release date so you can compare it with the installed driver's version number to make sure you're actually getting a genuine update
  • Driver Talent can automatically shut down the computer after it's finished installing drivers, which is helpful if you know a reboot will be pending after the updates anyway
  • Before updating a driver, you can choose a different version than the most recent one if you'd like to install a specific version of that driver instead of the most recently released one
  • If you'll be reinstalling Windows later on, you can use Driver Talent to pre-download all the necessary drivers and then use the same program to reinstall them once you're ready to.
  • Driver Talent can reinstall any installed driver even if it doesn't require an update
  • Printers, mice, Bluetooth devices, and other peripherals are updated through the dedicated Peripheral Drivers tab
  • Use the link called Drive Talent for Network Card on the download page to install an offline version of Driver Talent that includes network drivers, which is useful if you don't have the network driver needed to install updates
  • You can adjust the maximum download speed for downloads to save bandwidth

Driver Talent Pros & Cons

Lots to love with Driver Talent:

  • Very easy to use
  • Installs quickly (less than 5 seconds)
  • Downloads drivers directly through the program
  • Fast download speeds
  • Backs up drivers automatically before updates and uninstallations

My Thoughts on Driver Talent

To start off, Driver Talent looks real nice. The interface is simple and clean without any advertisements or extra menus to distract you. I think this makes it much easier to use.

The Drivers Status tab tells you which device drivers need repaired and backed up, and the button in that tab does both of those things for you to all the drivers in question - downloading and installing the proper drivers and backing up the drivers that aren't already backed up. I love this feature because it's like a summary of all the issues Driver Talent has found, and it lets you fix them with just one button.

I recommend using Driver Talent for finding drivers for your devices even though it doesn't support bulk downloads like some driver updater tools do. Though you do have to start a scan manually, it definitely beats searching and downloading them yourself.

During the installation of Driver Talent, you might be asked to install something else that you don't need, like a browser toolbar. You can decline that if you want so that it doesn't get added to your computer. You don't need it in order to use Driver Talent.
