Sometimes, you may want to view the HTML source of those pretty messages you have received in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express. Maybe you want to find out how they did that with the scrolling stationery, or you're just plain nosy.

Display the HTML Source of an Email in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To see the raw HTML source of a message in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Open the message in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express.
  • Press Ctrl-F2.

This brings up your default editor with the source as a temporary file.

Note that Ctrl-F2 only shows the body of a message, not any of the headers (you can display them in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, and Outlook Express, too, though).
