Snapchat stickers are images you can add to your photo or video snaps. But if you added one and then changed your mind about it, you might be wondering how to delete that Snapchat sticker.

Forgot how to add stickers in the first place? Once you've taken a photo or video snap, just look for the sticker icon in the vertical menu on the right side of the screen. It should be the third one from the top. Tap it to search for a sticker by keyword, choose one from your sticker history, see your favorites (most used), create a custom one, add a Bitmoji sticker or add an emoji sticker.

Why Delete Snapchat Stickers?

Editing your snaps is all part of the creative process — even if that involves removing certain things like stickers you previously added. You might want to delete a sticker if:

  • You only wanted to preview the sticker to see how it looks
  • You want to see if a better sticker exists to make a replacement
  • The sticker covers up too much of the photo or video
  • There's not enough room for a sticker after applying several other creative components, like text or filters
  • The sticker is irrelevant to the message of the snap
  • The sticker just doesn't look good on the snap

Deleting Snapchat stickers is almost just as easy as adding them in the first place. Follow the steps below to learn how to delete stickers.

How to Delete Stickers from a Photo or Video Snap

The following instructions apply to the Snapchat mobile app for both iOS and Android. We're assuming you're starting from a photo or video snap that you already took, with at least one sticker added to it.

  1. Tap and hold the sticker that you want to delete.

  2. Without releasing your finger from the screen, drag the sticker around the screen until you see all the buttons around it disappear and a trashcan icon appear at the bottom.

  3. Use your finger to drag the sticker directly over the trashcan icon.

  4. Continue dragging it over the trashcan icon until the trashcan becomes slightly enlarged and the sticker itself becomes transparent, then release your finger from the screen.

  5. The sticker should disappear, meaning you've successfully deleted it.

There's no limit to how many sticker deletions you can make. If you added a sticker to a snap, you can always delete it by following the exact same steps above every time, no matter what.

Deleting a sticker can't be undone, but you can easily put it back if you decide you want it back on your snap. Simply tap the sticker icon in the vertical menu on the right side of the screen and then tap the clock icon at the top to view your recent sticker history. Your latest stickers (including ones you added and then deleted) will appear at the top.
