Knowing how to delete notifications on Facebook can help keep your account clean and free of unnecessary clutter. How to Delete Notifications on Facebook Sign into Facebook.com in a web browser or your Facebook account on the official Facebook mobile app. Select the bell icon in the top right on Facebook.com or in the bottom menu on the app. If you're on Facebook.com, hover your cursor over the notification you want to delete and select the three dots that appear to the right of it. If you're on the app, the three dots will already be visible to the right of each notification, which you can tap to select. In the menu that appears, select Hide this notification to clear it from your notifications, which basically deletes it. You can always select Undo if you change your mind. If you'd rather keep the notification but label it to help separate it from your newest ones, you can mark it as read. All this does is change the background color of the notification to white. On Facebook.com, hover your cursor over the notification and select the grey dot that appears to the right of it to mark it as read. You can only mark notifications as read on Facebook.com and not on the app. Depending on the type of notification, you might be able to select additional options in the menu to help cut down on unnecessary notifications. These include: Get fewer notifications like this: These notifications won't stop completely, but you won't see as many of them.Turn off all notifications of this type: You'll no longer see this specific type of notification, which are typically less important notifications from Pages rather than direct interactions from friends.Turn off all notifications from this Page: You'll no longer receive any notifications from this specific Page, whether it's a Page you've liked or it's a Page you manage from your account. If you selected any of the options listed in the previous step, you'll still be able to select Hide this notification afterward to clear it from your notifications. Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't have a feature that allows you to delete your personal account's notifications in bulk. You'll have to follow the steps above for each individual notification to delete it. The good news is that Facebook only maintains a certain number of your most recent notifications, meaning that older ones are eventually deleted automatically. How to Stop Unnecessary Notifications So You Don't Have to Keep Deleting Them You can make it easier on yourself by turning off or limiting certain notifications that you know you're just going to end up deleting.
