How to Delete a Facebook Account on Android

Delete Your Facebook Account on the Android App

Unlike deactivating your account, which is temporary, deleting Facebook is permanent. If you want to rejoin, you'll have to create a new account.  Before quitting Facebook, you might want to download your photos and export other data you want to keep.

It takes only a few steps to delete your account, although Facebook will offer some alternatives to consider. Here's how to permanently delete Facebook from the Android app.

1. Tap the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner (represented by three horizontal lines).

2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.

3. Select Settings.

4. Scroll down to the Your Facebook Information section and tap Account Ownership and Control.

5. Tap Deactivation and deletion.

6. Select Delete account and Continue to account deletion.

7. Choose a reason for deletion, or tap Continue to account deletion to skip that step. If you pick a reason, Facebook will offer an alternative to deletion, such as managing notifications, changing privacy settings, blocking or reporting people, getting help with security, and finding more friends.

8. Facebook offers the option to deactivate your account instead if you want to continue using Messenger. You can save posts to your archive, downloading your information. It also shows you any apps you use Facebook to log in to and warns that those accounts could be deleted.

9. Tap Delete Account to proceed.

Delete Facebook Account in a Mobile Browser

The process for deleting your account in a browser is slightly different:

1. Go to Facebook.com in any mobile browser.

2. Tap the menu symbol in the upper-right corner (three horizontal lines).

3. Scroll down and tap Settings.

4. Scroll down to Your Facebook Information, and tap Account Ownership and Control.

5. Tap Deactivation and Deletion.

6. Select Delete Account and Continue to Account Deletion.

7. Choose a reason for deletion, or tap Continue to Account Deletion to skip that step. If you pick a reason, Facebook will offer an alternative to deletion, such as managing notifications, changing privacy settings, blocking or reporting people, getting help with security, and finding more friends.

8. If you want to keep using Messenger, you can deactivate your account on the next screen. Facebook also offers the option to save posts to your archive by downloading your information. It also shows you any apps you use Facebook to log in to and warns that those accounts could be deleted.

9. When you're ready to proceed, tap Delete Account.
