How to Delete a Facebook Account on Android

Quit Facebook in just a few steps

When you’ve had enough of Facebook and temporarily deactivating your account isn’t sufficient, consider deleting it. Unlike deactivating, which is temporary, deleting Facebook is permanent. If you want to rejoin, you’ll have to create a new account. Here’s how to permanently delete Facebook from the Android app and any mobile browser.

Not ready to quit for good? You can also deactivate your account on Android.

Delete Your Facebook Account On the Android App

It takes only a few steps to delete your account, though Facebook will offer some alternatives to consider, including deactivation and logging out. Before quitting Facebook, you might want to download your photos and export other data you want to keep.

  1. Open the Facebook app.

  2. Tap the hamburger menu on the top right (represented by three horizontal lines).

  3. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.

  6. Tap Deactivation and Deletion.

  7. Select Delete Account then tap Continue to Account Deletion.

The next screen lists out potential reasons you’re deleting your account, including that you spend too much time on the site, have a privacy concern, don’t feel safe, someone hacked your account, or that you no longer have a use for the social media platform.

  8. If you select any of these reasons, Facebook will offer an alternative to deletion, such as managing notifications, changing privacy settings, blocking or reporting people, getting help with security, and finding more friends.

  9. If none of these apply, tap Continue to Account Deletion.
