How to Delete an Address From Google Maps

Google Maps allows you to remove addresses from your Maps history. This is useful if an address is no longer needed or if you’d simply like to clean up your location history. 

There are actually two separate paths for deleting a saved address and saved location history. This article will teach you how to do both.

Can You Delete Locations From Maps?

You can delete locations by using the Google Maps desktop site or from a mobile device running Android or iOS. No matter which device you use, make sure you’re logged into the Google account you wish to delete addresses from.

To delete a saved address from Google Maps, follow these steps:

Desktop

The process of deleting an address is a bit different on desktop compared to mobile devices. Here is the process for deleting an address on the desktop version of Google Maps:

1. Navigate to Google Maps.
   

2. Click the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top-left corner.
   

3. Click Your Places.
   

4. Click the vertical dotted line to the right of a list item and select Edit list.
   

5. Find the address you’d like to delete and click the X symbol.
   

Mobile (iOS and Android)

The process of deleting an address is the same on both iOS and Android devices, so the instructions have been grouped together.

1. Open the Google Maps app.
   

2. Click the Saved tab from the horizontal menu at the bottom of the screen.
   

3. Click the vertical dotted line to the right of a list item and select Edit list.
   

4. Find the address you’d like to delete and tap the X symbol.
   
   

How Do I Remove a Shared Location From Google Maps?

To remove a location from Google Maps, follow the instructions below for your chosen device. Note this process also includes the deletion of map activity such as addresses you've searched for, but not necessarily visited.

Desktop

1. Navigate to Google Maps.
   

2. Click the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner.
   

3. Click Maps activity.
   

4. Select Delete. You can filter by:

   • Last hour
   • Last day
   • All time
   • Custom range
     

   You can set Google Maps to auto-delete maps activity to avoid having to do so manually. Click Auto-delete from the Maps Activity menu and set a date range by selecting Auto-delete activity older than.

5. Click Delete to confirm. Additionally, you can use the Search your activity bar to find a specific activity or address to delete.
   

Mobile (iOS and Android)

Again, the process of removing a location from Google Maps is identical on iOS and Android platforms. Follow the instructions below to remove a location on either platform.

1. Open the Google Maps app.
   

2. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
   

3. Tap Settings.
   

4. Tap Maps history.
   

5. Click Delete to see the timeframe options you have.
   

   You can also manually scroll through your recent activity and delete an entry by clicking the X symbol next to it.

6. Select Delete activity by.
   

7. Choose a date range and tap Delete to confirm.
