What to Know

  • Select the + icon at the bottom of a messenger window > Create a Poll icon > Type a question or statement > Add Option > Create Poll.
  • You can only create polls in Facebook Messenger conversations.
  • There are no customization options available for polls other than the question and answer options.

How to Create a Poll in Facebook Messenger

If you are part of a group conversation using Facebook Messenger, you can create a poll for your friends or connections. 

  1. Open the group conversation in Facebook Messenger.

  2. Click the + button at the bottom of the messenger window. (In the mobile app, tap the icon all the way to the left (four dots in a square formation.)

  3. Click the Create a Poll icon (it looks like a bar graph).

  4. Type a question or statement in the Ask a question box.

  5. Select Add Option to add poll choices.

  6. Select Create Poll to share the poll with your group.
