MSN Spaces is an easy-to-use, online Web site creator. Yu can create a blog and a photo album all in one site. This tutorial will help you set up your MSN Spaces homepage after you have signed up for an MSN Spaces Web site.

  • Open your MSN Spaces editing page.
  • Move your mouse over the area at the top left-hand corner of the page that says "Profile".​
  • An arrow will show up in that section. Click on the arrow.
  • A little menu will pop up. Click on the link in the menu that says "Create a Profile".
  • A new window will pop up so you can start creating your MSN Spaces profile.

Your Name and Your Permissions

Only enter information on your MSN Spaces profile that you want people to know and you are comfortable with. There are a lot of personal questions on this profile, you don't have to answer them all.

Choose a name you want to be known as on your Web site. This can be your real name, a nickname or something else.

Choose who you want to see your MSN Spaces profile sections. You can choose different permissions for each section of your profile. Go through and decide who you want to be allowed to see each section.

General Information

  • The first thing you get to enter here is a picture. It can be a photo of you, of someone else in your family or anything you want. It doesn't even have to be a photo. You can use an avatar or some other form of clip art. To add a photo just click on browse and choose your photo from your computer.
  • Next you can list your gender, age, occupation, and location if you want to.
  • More about me - This is where you get to tell your readers who you are. Give them a little insight into who you are, what you are writing about on your Web site and what they are going to find when they come to read it.
  • Interests - A little more detail about who you are. Tell your readers what your hobbies and other interests are. What clubs you might belong to and what kinds of things you like to do.

Social Information

  • You can choose to mention whether you are married, single or something else. Also choose what types of relationships you are looking for online, if any. The other thing you can do here is tell whether you have pets or not.
  • Hometown and Places Lived - Tell about where you are from and where you have lived.
  • Humor, Fashion, Music and Favorite Quote - Just answer the first three of these questions from the pull-down menus and enter in your favorite quote.

Contact Info

This is extremely personal information like phone numbers, addresses, emails, IM's, birthday and more. You don't have to enter any of this stuff, you don't have to answer anything on this profile at all. If you do enter things in the profile remember to set your permissions.

When you are finished entering all your profile information click on the "Save" button on the bottom of the page. You will be taken to your new profile page where you can see the information you have entered. Click on the "Home" link at the top of the page to go back to your editing page and see what your homepage looks like now.
