Thankfully, the process for how to change your name on TikTok, and your username, profile picture, and profile video, is surprisingly easy and can be done in just a few minutes. Here’s everything you need to know about how to change TikTok names and profile images on the popular video social network. How to Change Your Display Name on TikTok Your TikTok display name is the name that appears at the top of your profile within the app. It can be anything you like and it doesn’t matter if another user is already using the same one. Think of your display name as your name in the address book and your username as your unique phone number. Here’s how to change your TikTok display name. Open the TikTok app on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet and tap Me from the lower menu. Tap Edit profile. Tap your current name next to Name. Type your new name in the field. Tap Save. Your TikTok display name will now be updated. How to Change Your Username on TikTok Usernames for TikTok are all unique as they’re used to identify individual accounts. TikTok usernames are also used to create the unique web URL for your profile that others will copy and paste to link to your account and videos. Changing your TikTok username will also change your profile’s web address. If there are a lot of links to your account on social media networks and websites, you may want to stick to your current username as changing it will break those links. TikTok usernames are what appear on video pages and are preceded by an @ symbol, much like usernames on Twitter and Instagram. Here’s how to change your TikTok username. Open TikTok on your phone or tablet. Tap Me from the menu across the bottom of the screen to go to your profile. Tap Edit profile. Tap the present username to the right of Username. Enter your new TikTok username and tap Save. Your new username and profile URL will be saved and the changes will go live immediately. How to Change Profile Picture on TikTok Profile pictures on TikTok work in much the same way as profile photos or avatars on other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. They appear on your profile page and are also used to identify you next to any posts that you make. Your TikTok profile picture can be changed as many times as you like. Here’s how. On your Android or iOS device, open the TikTok app. Tap Me. Tap Edit profile. Tap Change photo. Tap Take a photo to take a photo with your smartphone or tablet’s camera and import it directly into the app. You can also tap Select from Photos to upload one that you already have saved on your device. Once you’ve take or chosen your photo, you can enlarge, shrink, or move your image by pinching it with two fingers. When you’re ready, tap Save. Your new profile photo will now be live on your TikTok account. What Is a TikTok Profile Video For? On the Edit profile page, you may have noticed the Change video link next to Change photo. This is an optional feature that allows you to upload a six second video to create an animated profile picture in place of the traditional still image one.
