How to Select New Waze Voices The list of available voices continually changes and includes those of celebrities and quirky characters. Here's how to choose. Open the Waze app and select My Waze in the lower-left corner of the screen. In the upper-left corner, select Settings indicated by a gear icon. Select Voice & sound. Tap Waze Voice and select from the list of available Waze voices. Some voices include street names in the turn-by-turn directions, and others don't. Check out the available Waze voices from time to time as the company frequently makes different options available. Past celebrity voices have included Liam Neeson and Mr. T. Select the X icon in the upper-right corner to return to the map. How to Create Your Own Waze Voices You can record your voice to hear yourself give directions while driving. The process is simple and can be fun. You can create custom phrases and share your voices with your friends. Select Waze in the lower-left corner of the screen. Select the Settings icon indicated by a gear. Select Voice & sound > Waze voice. At the top of the screen, select Record new voice. Waze reminds you to record your voice in a clear manner so you can understand yourself when driving. Select Got it to continue. Waze may ask permission to use your device's microphone. Select OK or Allow to proceed. Select Name your voice at the top of the screen. Enter your name or a phrase to save the new digital creation, then select Done. Select each phrase for which you'd like to record a custom voice command. To begin recording, select the red dot. When the window appears, select the red dot again. For the best experience, record all phrases. Otherwise, the default voice will play for any unrecorded phrases. Speak the corresponding phrase. When you're finished, select the gray square. Select Save once you're satisfied with the recording. If you want to hear your recording played back, select the blue play icon.
