If someone stole your credentials and hacked your account, or if you want to create a password that's more secure or easier to remember, here's how to change your Gmail password on an Android or iPhone. These instructions apply to devices with Android 4.4 and later or iOS 11 and newer. If you prefer, you can change your Gmail password from a computer. How to Change Your Gmail Password on an Android Device Take the following steps to change your Gmail password on an Android smartphone or tablet. Open Gmail and log in if necessary. Tap the menu button that's located in the upper-left corner (look for three horizontal lines). When the drop-down menu appears, scroll down and select Settings. On the Settings screen, tap your Gmail address. Select Manage your Google Account. On the Google Account screen, tap Personal Info. Tap Password. Type your current Gmail password, then tap Next. Enter your desired new password twice: once in the New password field and again in the Confirm new password field. Tap Change Password to complete the process. How to Change Your Gmail Password on iPhone Take the following steps to change your Gmail password on an iPhone or another iOS device. Open the Gmail app and log in. Tap the menu button, represented by three horizontal lines and located in the upper-left corner. When the menu appears, scroll to the bottom and select Settings. Tap your Google email address, which is located near the top of the Settings screen. In the Account section, select Manage your Google Account. On the Google Account screen, tap Security. You may have to swipe across the top of the screen to locate the Security heading. In the Signing in to Google section, tap Password. Type your current Gmail password, then tap Next. Enter your desired new password twice: once in the New password field and again in the Confirm new password field. Tap Change Password to complete the process. You'll see a confirmation screen that your password has changed. If you don't know your current Gmail password, the steps above do not work because you're asked for your password before making any changes. In this case, recover your Gmail password.
