How to Change Your Email Address On Facebook

Don't miss notifications or contacts when your email changes

So, you want to change your Facebook email address. Maybe your Facebook account has been breached or hijacked. Maybe you changed to a new email provider and you need to update your information. Whatever the reason, you can change the email address associated with your Facebook account from any internet-connected device. Here's how.

How to Change Your Facebook Email on Any Computer

You can change your email address from any computer, no matter if it’s Mac-based or Windows-based, using your favorite web browser. That can be Internet Explorer or Edge on a PC, Safari on a Mac, or any compatible third-party browser you've installed, such as Firefox or Chrome.

To change the email address you use with Facebook and to set it as the primary address from a computer:

  1. In the top right corner of the Facebook page, select the down arrow, then Settings.

You can access Facebook's settings from the drop down menu on the upper right
  2. From the General tab, select Contact.

  3. Select Add Another Email Or Mobile Number.

You can add a new email or mobile number to your Facebook account from the Contact tab
  4. Type the new address and click Add.

  5. Facebook might ask you to re-enter your password. Do that, then click Submit.

You can remove the old email address if you want by going back to the Contact tab and selecting Remove.

Once you're done adding a new email address, Facebook will send you a confirmation message. Click the link in your email to confirm you want to add that address to your account.

How to Change Your Facebook Email on iOS/Android

If you use Facebook on your iPhone or iPad you can make an email address change there. The steps differ slightly from the above version, though.

  1. Go to Menu > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Personal Information > Email Address.

  2. Select Add Email Address.

  3. Type in the email address and press Add Email.

  4. Check your email and select Confirm to verify you made this change. You may be prompted to enter a code.

Once you enter the new email, you may need to access Facebook from a computer to make it your new primary email address.
