This tutorial is only intended for users running the Firefox browser on LinuxMac OS X or Windows operating systems.

Some websites can be rendered in a number of different languages, depending on their configuration and your individual Web browser's abilities and settings. Firefox, which supports over 80 global dialects, provides the ability to specify which languages you would like Web content to be displayed in.

Prior to rendering text on a page, Firefox will first validate whether or not it supports your preferred languages in the order which you specified. If possible, the page's verbiage will then be displayed in said language. Setting and modifying Firefox's list of internal languages can be done rather quickly, and the tutorial below shows you how.

Type the following text in Firefox's address bar and hit the Enter key: about:preferences#content

The Content tab of Firefox's preferences should now be visible. The last section in this tab, located at the very bottom, is labeled Languages. Click on the Choose button, found within this section.

The Languages dialog should now be displayed, overlaying your browser window. The browser's current default languages are shown here in order of preference. To choose another language to add, first click on the drop-down menu labeled Select a language to add.

All of Firefox's installed languages should now be displayed. Scroll down and select the language of your choice. Your chosen language should now be visible. To move it into the active list, click on the Add button.

Your new language should now be added to the list. By default, the new language which you have added will display first in order of preference.

To change its order, use the Move Up and Move Down buttons accordingly. To remove a specific language from the preferred list, simply select it and click on the Remove button.

When you are satisfied with your changes, click on the OK button to return to Firefox's preferences. Once there, close the tab or enter a URL to continue your browsing session.
