In a browser: Go to tv.youtube.com. Select Profile > Settings > Membership tab > Pause or cancel membership. Enter a reason.

In the app: Tap your Profile icon. Select Settings > Membership > Pause or cancel membership > Cancel.

This article explains how to cancel YouTube TV in a web browser and from the mobile app. It includes information on pausing a YouTube TV subscription and canceling a trial subscription. These instructions apply to YouTube TV, not to be confused with YouTube Premium.

How to Cancel a YouTube TV Subscription

A YouTube TV subscription grants you unlimited access to the live TV service with no commitment. You can cancel YouTube TV at any time. It's also possible to pause a YouTube TV subscription temporarily.

To unsubscribe from YouTube TV using a web browser:

  1. Go to tv.youtube.com and select your Profile icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. Select Settings in the pop-up menu.

  3. Select the Membership tab, then select Pause or cancel membership under YouTube TV.

  5. Choose a reason why you want to cancel YouTube TV, then select Continue Canceling.

  6. Select Cancel Membership again to unsubscribe from YouTube TV.

What Happens When You Cancel YouTube TV?

If you paid for a subscription to YouTube TV, you can continue watching until the end of the billing period. After that, you lose access to YouTube TV and any add-ons you purchased. Any programs you recorded expire after 21 days. Your preferences are saved in case you decide to reactivate YouTube TV, but you may lose your old recordings.

How to Cancel a YouTube TV Trial

If you have a YouTube TV trial and don't want to be charged after the trial period ends, you should know how to cancel YouTube TV.

Just follow the steps above for canceling a paid membership. When you cancel a free trial, you lose access to YouTube TV immediately.

How to Pause a YouTube TV Subscription

If you just want to take a break from YouTube TV, you can pause your subscription for a specified period of time:

  1. Go to tv.youtube.com and select your Profile icon in the upper-right corner.

  4. Use the slider to choose how long you wish to pause your subscription, then select Pause.

  5. If you decide to resume or cancel your subscription, go back to the Settings page and select Manage membership under YouTubeTV.

What Happens When You Pause YouTube TV?

You have the option to pause your YouTube TV membership for up to six months. Once your subscription is paused, you can continue watching until the end of your billing period. After that, you lose access to YouTube TV, and your account isn't charged again until the time you specified.

You're charged at your previous rate as soon as the pause period ends, and that date becomes your new monthly billing date. Your old recordings are saved for when you resume, but no shows are recorded while your membership is paused.

YouTube TV recordings expire after nine months by default. This still applies while your account is paused.

How to Cancel YouTube TV From the Mobile App

It's also possible to cancel or pause your subscription from the YouTube TV app for Android and iOS:

  1. Launch the YouTube TV app on your mobile device and tap your Profile icon.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Membership.

  5. Tap Cancel or move the slider to choose how long you wish to pause your subscription and tap Pause Membership.

  6. If you decide to resume or cancel your subscription, go back to the Membership screen in the YouTube TV app and tap Resume Membership or Cancel Membership.
