How to Cancel Your Shipt Membership

Stop grocery delivery orders and end free trials, too!

Shipt is a subscription-based online grocery delivery service that delivers groceries and other items. You place order via an app or a web interface.

If you place an order in error and need to cancel it, you can do so within certain limitations, and we'll show you exactly how to do it. If you find that you just aren't using Shipt enough to justify the subscription cost, they make canceling your membership a little more complicated. Here are three ways to cancel a Shipt membership, but none of them are automated.

How to Cancel a Shipt Order

Shipt allows you to cancel any order for a full refund as long as you do so before your shopper has started shopping. In most cases, you can cancel up to one hour before your delivery window without any hassle. You can cancel through the website or the Shipt app yourself without having to contact customer service.

Canceling a Shipt Order Through the Website

If you're using Shipt through the website on a full browser, here's how to cancel Shipt orders using the website:

  1. Navigate to Shipt.com, log in, and click Account.

  3. Locate the order you want to cancel, and click View Details.

  4. Click Cancel Order located at the bottom of the order.

  5. Click Yes to confirm cancellation.

Cancelling a Shipt Order With the App

If you aren't at your computer, you can also cancel Shipt orders using the convenient phone app:

  1. Open the Shipt app, and tap the Orders icon in the bottom right corner.

  2. Locate the order you want to cancel, an tap it.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the order, and tap cancel order.

  4. Tap yes to confirm.

Problems With Cancelling Shipt Orders

You can still cancel a Shipt order if your delivery window is less than an hour away, or even if your shopper is already at the store, but you can't do it yourself. If you find yourself in that situation, you'll have to contact Shipt customer support to cancel the order.

If you don't see a cancel order button on the website or app at the bottom of the order you want to cancel, that usually means it's either too close to your window or your order is already in progress. In that event, contact Shipt customer service to cancel.

How to Cancel Your Shipt Membership or Free Trial

Shipt doesn't make it easy to cancel your membership. Unlike most online membership services, there is no way to cancel your membership through either the Shipt website or app. If you want to cancel your membership, you have to either call Shipt customer service or contact them through the Shipt website.

You need to use this same process to cancel a Shipt free trial. If you fail to cancel your free trial before the trial period ends, they will automatically charge the credit card that you provided during the sign up process.

Here's how to cancel your Shipt membership online:

  1. Navigate to help.shipt.com, and click LIVE CHAT in the bottom right corner.

  2. Enter your name and email, and click Start Chatting.

  3. Request to cancel your account, and wait for a response.

  4. Provide any information that the customer support agent requires.

  5. The agent should honor your request and cancel your account.

Other Ways to Cancel a Shipt Membership

In addition to the live chat option on the Shipt website, you can also cancel by calling or emailing Shipt customer support. The email method is the easiest, because you don't have to wait for a support agent to become available. However, calling ensures that your membership will be canceled right away, and you won't have to wait around for a confirmation email.

The phone number you need to call to cancel a Shipt membership is (205) 502-2500. There is no toll free number, so charges may apply depending on your location and phone service. If you prefer to cancel via email, then you can contact Ship at support@shipt.com.

Regardless of the method you decide to use, you will have to provide your name, phone number, email address, and specify that you want to cancel your account.

Shipt customer support may offer you a free membership period to continue trying out the service. Keep in mind that when that free period comes to an end, they will start charging you, and you'll have to go through the cancellation process all over again.
