This article explains how to cancel your HBO Max subscription via the HBO Max website, mobile app, or service provider.

Canceling on the Website

The following steps will show you how to cancel your subscription via the HBO Max website.

  1. On your computer, go to HBOMax.com and sign into your account.

  2. Click your profile in the upper right hand corner of the screen and then click Subscription.

  3.  In the next window, select Manage Subscription.

  4. In the next window, choose Cancel Subscription.

  5. A message will appear asking if you want to cancel your subscription. Confirm your cancellation by selecting Yes, Cancel Subscription, but also be sure to take note of your subscription’s expiration date.

Note

You can continue using HBO Max until your subscription ends at the end of the billing cycle. Conversely, you can also go to HBOMax.com/account and sign in to go straight to your profile page.

Canceling via the HBO Max App

The following steps will show how to cancel your subscription via the HBO Max app. The instructions are the same whether it's on mobile or tablet, but the images seen are from the mobile app.

  1. Open the HBO Max app, and tap the Profile icon button.

    The Profile icon is located on the bottom edge on smartphones and on the left edge on tablets.

  2. Tap Settings (upper left hand corner of the Profile menu).

  3. Select Subscription and when you go into the next window, tap Manage Subscription.

  4. The app will then take you to your account via web browser. Select Cancel Subscription.

  5. A question will be shown asking for feedback. Confirm the cancellation by tapping Yes, Cancel Subscription.

    Note

    Take note of the expiration date of the subscription. You will be able to continue streaming until the end of your last billing cycle.

Can You Cancel Through a Provider?

Some streaming and cable TV providers allow customers to get HBO Max via their service. Some of these providers include, but are not limited to, YouTube TV, Roku, Apple iTunes, AT&T, and DirecTV.

In order to cancel your HBO Max subscription through those other providers, you will have to sign in to that particular account and manage your subscription there or contact your provider's Help Center.

Can You Cancel a HBO Max Free Trial?

If the Free Trial promotion was still around, you would cancel it the same way as you would a regular subscription. However, the Free Trial from HBO has since been discontinued and is no longer offered. It is possible the promotion could come back. Plus, other platforms still do offer free trials like the aforementioned YouTube TV.

    Access your Amazon Appstore subscriptions by logging in to your Amazon account from a web browser. Go to Your apps > Digital content and devices > Manage > Your Subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal for HBO Max. To cancel a channel subscription through Amazon Prime Video, go to amazon.com/myac and choose Your Channels > Cancel Channel next to HBO Max.

  • How do I cancel HBO Max on Hulu?

    If you have your HBO Max subscription through Hulu, access your account from hulu.com/account. Go to Your Subscription > Manage Plan or Manage Add-ons and move the toggle next to HBO Max so that an X appears instead of a check mark.
