Details on bugs that have plagued Call of Duty Black Ops II

Verrückt - Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies Map

At the time of the official launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 there were many players left out of the multi-player fun.

Within 12 hours of its launch, there were bug threads and known issue posts showing up in the official Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Forums. Each platform has its own dedicated forum so but reporting has been spread across at least four different forums (PC, Xbox, PS3 and Wii U).

The Official Forums

The PC Forum has a list of known issues, so before you log in to post an issue of your own, it's best to check that thread first. The PlayStation 3 Forum has a Black Ops 2 Bug/Glitch Thread, but both that forum and the Xbox 360 contain numerous threads discussing different issues players seem to be having.

While you're here be sure to tell us about any bugs, glitches, or problems you may be encountering with Call of Duty Black Ops 2. More likely than not, you're not the only one and it's possible someone here can provide some feedback or resolution to your issue. Hopefully, the links provided here provide you with a good starting point but be sure to check back for updates to this thread and status on Black Ops 2 bugs, bug reporting and any patches Activision releases to the masses.

PS3 Bugs and Glitches

PS3 Update: The Call of Duty Black Ops 2 forum now has posted new sticky threads for tracking two specific issues. The first is a thread on the "Servers Unavailable" message many gamers are receiving. They are requesting that you post what you are playing Zombies Multiplayer (ZM) or Multiplayer (MP) and your Region/Language, reports are that servers "...are up and running."

The second PS3 tracking thread is for the freezing/hard locking issue that many of you have reported here. This issue appears to be much more widespread and Treyarch is requesting your help. Be sure to read the first post in the thread on the Black Ops 2 Forum as to the information that they are looking to collect to help resolve.

As for those experiencing general lag and slowness, it may simply be due to the sheer number of people online playing the game. Gaming site Kotaku posted that there were more than 800,000 players online playing Black Ops 2 over Xbox Live, so we're sure similar numbers could be expected for the other platforms. That still is not much consolation to the many gamers who can't get online to play. This is not very surprising as each Call of Duty release over the past couple years has experienced similar load issues during the opening week of release.

Current State of Call of Duty Black Ops II

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is in a very stable state since it's release back in 2012. Gone are the many bugs that plagued all version of the game. The game is still supported by Activision but it does not receive many patch updates any longer now that the series has moved on to a number of other titles since the release.

Many of the issues encountered by users now are typically due to hardware and driver compatibility. It is always best to make sure that all hardware drivers are up to date with the latest versions for the operating system being used. The official forums are also still active and a great place to start if players encounter any technical issues or bugs.
